ESC 3rd Round away to Billericay. Match to be played by 11th November.

You know PB will put out a youth team and old big gob scrap dealer will put his first team out and claim they're the best side in Essex... Reckon we should stick a few 1st teamers in and smash em...

Worth going to see this, will be a mixed Southend side for this as we always look to do well in this competition.

We will send the u18's, lose, and that prick of an owner/manager/control freak will turn Donald and build a huge wall just so he can draw a picture of himself slaying a shrimp that is cradled in the hands of God all whilst tweeting a load of **** including belittling mental health and addiction helplines whilst claiming that the mighty Billericay Town have beaten their biggest rivals and so are the best team in Essex.

Cannot wait!

Haven't we gone out in the first hurdle every season under Brown to teams like Harlow and Hullbridge?

Think he sees it as an injury risk more than an opportunity to play some fringe players.

I say this every year but the trophy is magnificent.

Yeah lovely trophy. The only time I can remember us winning it recently was when the mighty Zoltan Liptak lifted it up after we beat Chelmsford City at Roots Hall.

I'm sure we "always look to do well" in this competition just as I'm sure we look to do well in the League Cup. Sadly our results in this competition, just as in the League Cup, are nothing short of abysmal having managed to get knocked out, invariably at the first hurdle (3rd round), by a variety of non-league clubs ranging from step one to step four and below.

You're right it's usually a mixed side. a mixture of youths and U23s.

Ten years ago ..... not sure we've won a game in this competition since !!

Not only did Zoltan lift the trophy he scored the winning goal. Danny Gay, who is still playing, in goal for the opposition who included James Lawson. And look who was their number 10 !!!

Massive crowd and the same referee as last Saturday.

Southend United (4-4-2): Collis, Grant, Herd, Hunt, Liptak, Revell, Moussa, Lokando, Ademeno, Harrold, MacDonald. Unused Subs: Forshaw, McDonald, Thurlbourne, O'Keefe, Obaze.

Chelmsford City (4-5-1): Gay, Palmer (Knight 12), Duffy, Duncan, Ward, Noto, Ainsley (Brayley 81), Minton, Lawson, Holmes, Ibe. Unused Subs: Hallett, Protheroe, Harrison.

Referee: Nick Kinseley Attendance: 2,995

We have quite a few players on the fringes now.

Elvis bridge kyprianou Smith klass Ba etc. We also have a good few youngsters at under 23 and under 18 looking to push on. These should be given games at this level against men. Mix in a couple of first teamers ie Robinson and players that need the game time and we can win it this year.

Yeah crowd was good, Chelmsford had well over 1,000 in the West Stand which was the 'away' stand for the night.

He was on Radio 5 last Sunday and joined Billericay as they were a "sleeping giant". Don't you need to have been one in the first place?

Aren't we just seeing another Jeff King at Canvey, they will have their five minutes and then fade away again.

We'll put the youth out for this one and probably lose, but it won't matter. Personally I would like to get them in the FA Cup and give them a proper beating in that.
