Ex Shrimper Goalscorer League 19/20

International break weekend with a few postponed games and no prem or championship football. Only two goalscorers on Saturday with both being new entries. Colchester captain Luke Prosser got his first of the season in their 2-1 loss to Crawley. And finally Matt Harrold who their official twitter feed referred to as ‘ginger pele’ scored his first of the season in a rare win for the tin pot Leyton Orient.

Apologies for the delay but here is the midweek scorers ahead of the weekends games. Cauley Woodrow doubled his tally with 2 goals for Barnsley to rescue a draw and fire him into the top 3 overall. Stuart O’Keefe scored his second of the season this time from the penalty spot to rescue a draw for Gillingham. Finally two new goalscorers both from the same club and both in the same game. Their goals ensured the win for Port Vale too. Much missed midfield engine Will Atkinson scored his first of the season with a last minute winner and former winger David Worrall joined him with his first too.

It appears they were quite happy with that one:

With it being a FA Cup weekend last Saturday and the pointless cup during the week there wasn’t many league games. Still Britt Assombalonga managed to bag 2 on Saturday to bring his tally to 5 for the season and secure a point for Boro against QPR. Hopefully some more goals this weekend but with the international break the wait for a Premiership goal continues.

Not much to report from the last week and last weekends fixtures. With it being an international weekend a lot of games in league one and two were postponed. 3 goals were scored by 2 players, David Worrall scored his 2nd of the season for Port Vale in their 2-1 win. Myles Weston boosted his total to 5 for the season with 2 against Hartlepool to rescue a draw.

Full fixtures this weekend, hopefully lots of goals for me to report on.

This weekend we were denied our first Premier League goalscorer and goal by VAR. Former loanee John Egan had his 1st premiership goal taken away from him by VAR, the wait continues.

Freddie Ladapo took top spot with his 9th of the season in a 2-2 draw against Joey Barton’s Fleetwood. Josh Wright scored his 7th one of his first not from the penalty spot to move up to joint 3rd in the table. Former loanee Caolan Lavery got his 2nd for Walsall and finally Tyrone Barnett got his 6th of the season for Eastleigh.

Merry Christmas to everyone and hopefully with the Christmas and New Year fixtures we might get that Prem goal!
