So Espanyol get to play Real Madrid again ..in the Copa. Will the real Ronaldo turn up this time?

Crazy recent schedule.Home to R.Madrid last Sunday.Home to Alcorcon in the Cup on Wednesday.Home to Celta tonight and home to R.Madrid again in the cup next Tuesday.

(Betis 0-5 R.Madrid.Oh dear).

Defeat was pretty much inevitable in that game and I met it with resignation rather than disappointment. Our coach - Juan Carlos Garrido - has already got the sack after only a couple of months. Can't say I'm gutted as it was a poor appointment and I'm sure Pepe Mel has afforded himself a wee smile.

Interesting result between Levante and Barcelona, let's hope Atleti can capitalise.

At least Betis are home to Espanyol in a fortnight. They were crap last night, difficult to break down but that's about it.

Agree about AM.

Nope, could only draw 1-1 so Barca's reign at the top of La Liga for the last season and a half continues but for how much longer? Seems to be a strange symmetry between the top of the Prem and La Liga at the moment (I realise the Prem has played a couple of games more due to not having a winter break).

The Big Match

>REAL BETIS BALOMPIé vs RCD ESPANYOL

Día Domingo 02 Febrero 2014
Hora 17:00
Lugar Benito Villamarín>

Espanyol- currently heading for mid-table mediocrity- need 5 wins and three draws to hit the magic 43 point figure, which will keep them up.

Betis (with only 11 points on the board, IIRC) need rather more than that.

Ha!I thought Espanyol would get nil (that's their favourite score recently).Didn't see them losing though.:whistling:

Betis hadn't won a league game in such a long time I forgot what it felt like!

Still a loooong way back though.

Good to see Atleti at the top. Really hope they last the course.

Good result for Espanyol today.Pity they can't play Elche every week.

See Betis got a rare win yesterday too.

Barca.Ha,ha,ha.

What an utterly miserable season it has been. And with the prospect of more humiliation at the hands of Sevilla tonight (I think this is only the sixth time ever that teams from the same city have met in European competition).

Congratulations on that great 2-0 win for Betis in midweek.Clearly you didn't see that one coming.:winking:

Espanyol matched Barca in today's derby game.

I'll be interested to see the penalty again.

I had a good view of it and didn't think Javi Lopez handled deliberately. In any case Neymar clearly handled the ball beforehand.

(Just seen a video online and it confirms what I thought.Neymar clearly handled the ball deliberately before it hit Javi Lopez's hand).

Fix.:thumbdown:Here's hoping Athletico Madrid beat the scum on Tuesday and win La Liga too.

Not entirely sure whether it's simply because I don't really have much preference over the current top three in La Liga (in comparison to the Premier League and the fact a Liverpool title win is a horror not worth thinking about), but the title race is one of the most enthralling I can remember. Ebbs and flows pretty much each week and Atletico, who looked like falling away after that late Ronaldo equaliser, are now in poll position. What a final day that promises to be.

Not only a great final day but a mouth watering Champions league tie starting tonight.

I would have thought most neutrals would have wanted Athletico to win La Liga, just to break up the monotony of Barca/real Madrid (mostly) always winning.I certainly do.:Worthy:

Funnily enough Athletico are the only one of the three teams that Espanol have managed to beat this season.

Surely it's Atlético Barna? Or at the very least Atletico...

Any how, I wish them well and would love to see them win the title. I think Barcelona will do it, but am cheering on Atleti all the way.

As for Betis, there was a smidgen of hope last night when we were one up against Málaga, as that would have put us five points from safety but it really is game over now. Ah well, viva el Beti manque pierda, as they say down Triana way.
