Our head-to-head League record against Barnet is in our favour with 9 wins to their 6 and just 1 draw. Last season, we won well at theirs 3-0 and then they won by the only goal at Roots Hall. The previous season two Matt Dennis goals saw us home at home and towards the end of the season we completed the double with a 3-1 away win. That was almost as good as our best season against them in the League back in 2011/12 when we beat them 3-0 both home and away. Bilel Mohsni scored 4 of those goals, including the hat-trick at home. In the first season back after the war, we beat them 9-2 away in the second round of the Cup, having brushed aside Brush Sports away by 6-1 in round one. Everton, also away, proved stronger opposition in round three and we bowed out with a very creditable 4-2 defeat in front of over 50,000 (so 17 goals in 3 away cup ties!).

Our televised Boxing Day referee will be Kirsty Dowle from Canterbury, just turned 32 who is in her first season of National League refereeing. Her second NL match was our game at Bromley, a 2-1 defeat and a yellow for Mooney and three of theirs. It was suggested by some that she didn't get around the pitch as well as most. Her fourth NL match was at Roots Hall for our 2-0 win against Oxford City when she did okay. There were cautions for Taylor and Husin and one Oxonian.

So far she’s taken charge of 6 National League matches, 3 EFL Trophy matches and a Football League match with these 10 matches producing a low 33 yellows and no red thus far.

A FIFA women's referee who has taken charge of the Women’s Cup Final (2022), women’s international matches and loads of top-level women’s league games.

She worked on the railways as a revenue protection officer for many years before becoming a full-time professional referee. She has a Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology.

She has joined the Elite Referees Development Group for fast tracking through the men’s game. This means she can be allocated to pretty much any game and not be dependent on the normal promotion parameters. Anyone looking at the ERDG group in isolation would be forgiven for thinking that 30% of our referees have a BAME background and of the rest, 30% are women.

Assisting will be Nicholas Cooper from Ipswich and Ryan Head from Norwich (hope they’re on speaking terms). Fourth Official is Charles Martland, from Swiss Cottage, a history teacher at Highgate School.

Seasons Greetings to all.

Ryan is an alias, he is actually a Richard, known as Dick to his friends.
think your getting mixed up with Richard Cranium
and yes there was actually a Richard Cranium ,it was a horse and it started favourite in the Melbourne Cup many ears ago .But the ******** finished nearer last than first .

Officials got 2 of the 3 big decisions wrong, should have been a red for the elbow on Scott-Morris, lino on the West stand side was awful with the offsides, Sandat's finish looked onside.

I’ve not had the benefit of watching replays yet so would be interested to hear from those who have. I did think the pen was a 50/50 and Sandat was onside. But that was going on seeing them live, from one angle. This ref got loads of praise on here the last time she was at the Hall, didn’t she? Thought some of the chants/shouts were a bit close to the mark tbh. Who’d be a ref??

Her performance today along with her officials need calling out for what they were. ****. I’ve seen/heard some things that have taken it far but have also seen some people suggest that just because we’ve said she was **** today, we’re being misogynistic. You can’t win.
Agreed. It’s not misogynistic by any stretch to dish out fair criticism. She was ****. The West stand Lino was just as ****, and he’s not a woman. Is it misandristic to criticise him and other male officials, if it’s misogynistic to criticise the female ref?

Having said that, some people are knowingly (and tiresomely) expressing their criticism in such a way as to purposely add in misogyny.

She wasn’t **** because she is a woman, any more than the Lino was **** because he’s a man. They were both **** today because, well, they were **** today. End of.

Criticism or otherwise goes with the territory. She is a Referee first and foremost - nothing to do with being a female !

I watched the game on TV and tbh I thought it was a pen. Colin seemed to take out their player. The Sandat goal was onside, that was down to the linesman and not the ref.
GSM and Kanu probably both deserved reds.

Awful today but so we're all the officials. She decided that it was a penalty before Collin even made a challenge and how was their number 11 not sent off? Again she pulled out a yellow straight away and wouldn't/couldn't make a change

Seen the replay and Sandat was onside

Ref didn’t have the best game, but my god, she was like Collina compared to the two assistants.

It’s not often that commentators mention the number of offiside decisions that were incorrect. All in Barnet’s favour except one, where Fonguck had a shot saved after a pass to Bridge who was about 2 yards offside.

Collina Rooney? Is she reffing now too?

The free kick is taken (or should be) at the point where the offside player became active. This can easily be in their own half if they've come back from an offside position in the opposing half and then become active.
Thanks Mick.
