Post-Match Thread and Ratings Forest Green 2-2 Southend United..We win on Penalites 4-2

Jack Bridge…

Not had a great season but steps up and scores the most important goal for years to take us to pens.

Coolly scored his pen tonight

Does a lot of community work, Junior Blues, etc.

Stayed with us through the awful times without a contract

A player that will go down in our history
Well said.

They thought it was all over... but it never is with Southend. What a quality bit of play from Jack Bridge for his goal. So pleased for him. And when Gubbins stepped up to take a penalty, how many of us thought WTF..... another good decision by Kev. Everyone at the club deserved tonight's win... players, management, fans and of course COSU. Thank you COSU.
I know I did. I was still recovering from Walker taking one.

I have to say that with 4 minutes of extra time left and 2-1 down I thought for the first time that we'd run our race.

However even after our first penalty had been saved I still felt we would do it. And when the BBC Radio commentator said Hayes was behind the goal supping on his water bottle memories tumbled back to Dan Bentley and his antics in the Wycombe Wanderers shoot out.

At that point in my mind it was never in doubt.
Exactly how I felt.
