This is a real opportunity with the momentum we now have, let’s grasp it. That siege...never know when you are beaten mentality, we can do this. Whether we will who knows but it is about time we had a little luck and a few things go our way, come on Southend!

We needs some big performances from key players. I am concerned how ineffective Bridge and Coker have looked recently.but expect Maher only to make one change, Kendall for Walker. Unless Noor isn’t fit, in which case Miley comes in!

COYB!

Coker would have looked a lot more effective if Goodliffe and someone else had scored with their free headers from his set pieces first half.

He and Bridge also are key to us controlling a game as they can turn bad possession into good possession by neatly take a touch or two and lay it off to a teammate not under pressure. It often doesn’t get appreciated as they make it look easy but it’s so often what allows us to build up moves and put the opposition under pressure rather than be under pressure ourselves.

Like with the defensive side of things Coker does the little things well. He is also our biggest goal threat from midfield. He can score from range but he also takes up good positions inside the box. Over his young career he averages a goal every fourth start and hasn’t scored in his last three starts…

If I recall I think Ralph was still feeling the affects of an injury and came back for that game probably before fully ready. I don't think it's happen like that again now Ralph's properly match mobile.
Yeah, Ralph wasn’t fit for that game but rushed back to play because of injuries elsewhere. It was a gutsy performance where he essentially took one for the team.

I’m not so concerned about Ralph but by Goodliffe when he’s isolated in space.

Latest from the FGR manager!

Interesting stuff from the FGR boss. He mentions that he didn't arrange any game time against other opposition during their prolonged break. Says that you can pick up injuries doing that. To me that means that their own 11 v 11 training sessions would not be at full tilt. Clutching at straws here, but I would think it's not easy to start a game immediately at full speed after a lay off.

Maybe we can catch them cold with an early goal.
