I wrote the below just before the Accrington match. At the time I only did the top 5 as we were eight points clear of sixth. I thought it would be interesting to do again every couple of matches.

There are lies , dame lies and statistics and I could do the same thing next week and get a different outcome (assuming my maths is fine). Obviously there are a number of games where teams play each other which will have an impact, but the below is still currently mathematically possible in all cases. So for those who like this sort of thing here goes..

12[SUP]th[/SUP] Feb 16 games to go (luton 17)

If Shrewsbury continue their form to date they are on 89 points, if they continue their form from the last 10 matches-92 points
If Burton continue their form to date they are on 89 points, if they continue their form from the last 10 matches-93 points
If Wycombe continue their form to date they are on 86 points, if they continue their form from the last 10 matches-80 points (if they win Saturday this moves to 86 points)
If Southend continue their form to date they are on 83 points, if they continue their form from the last 10 matches-80 points (if they win Saturday this moves to 86 points)
If Luton continue their form to date they are on 78 points, if they continue their form from the last 10 matches-80 points

I think we are all agreed that it is going to take a big number to guarantee promotion. Even 2 points a match from here to the end of season (which is what we have for the last 10 games) may not be enough. The Wycombe (home) and Luton (home) games and Burton (away)s could be massive

Great stuff, I guess the best we can hope for is the play-offs once more, that is good in itself but we will be on another roller-coaster when we should be with our squad and backroom staff in the AUTO spots IMO.

Im sure we will finish in the play offs, we have been there most of the season. Automatics are still a possibility, but we cant afford many more bad results or they will be gone, and with our boom and bust form I cant see us being consistent enough over the rest of the season.

Play off failures are pretty devastating, but on the flip side if we were to get promoted via the play offs it would be even better than getting promoted automatically.

Don't worry chaps, it's only our usual February slump. Stand by for a rousing March and April as we storm into third place....

Or not.

Burton and Shrewsbury must be due a dip in form as well at some stage. There are still a lot of twists and turns left this season, and its amazing how quickly things can change.

A win at home against Carlisle and 4 points from Wimbledon and Wycombe and things will look a lot different. (or 1 point from those 3 games and we will all be looking at Wiggy and Mrs Blue posting every 5 minutes on here)

But we have lost to Wycombe and Wimbledon already Burton away is a tough one even Carlisle at home on Saturday is going to be dodgy.
Hopefully we can kick on and go on another run but deep down I don't think we will

agreed - autos should be minimum

Bring back Connor Clifford... just watched his goal on the Grimsby link from Saturday...what a cracker!!

Clifford's been dropped to the bench by Barnet, and the conference leaders have suffered two defeats in his three appearances.

Might have been dropped to the bench but came on after 30 minutes scored a wonder goal and then got man of the match.
