Breaking News Francis offer accepted

It is fact, but don't take my word for it.

And i do wish injury on some players, Bailey, francis, Duguid and Lee hughes for starters.
I dont want to get involved in this but why do you wish injury on Francis and any player in that fact hasnt he been a good servent to you players come and go that is part and parcel of football when you dont succed especially in the lower leagues then players leave it has happened to us time and time again a prime example Rowlands he went to Rangers and kissed the badge and really showed himself up he will never be accepted back (not that he will come back) but no one wished he got seriously injured?

I would ignore him personally. Comments like that about a good servant to the club are totally uncalled for.

If you get Francis then IMHO you have got a very good right back. Not great at defending but his attacking and support play make him a great player.

Dont take this the way it sounds but I would be sad to see him go to Brentford as I would have liked him to have done better - so as a back handed compliment if you get him then you have done well.

If we were to get him I would be suprised TBH when we played you both times he had Weston quite throughout and from then on I have liked him and when I heard Southampton, Brighton and Peterborough were interested it looked unlikely but I understand your point.

I didnt rate Weston much at Roots Hall cant comment on the Griffin Park game as had a few too many before the game.

I think if you get him you wont be disappointed. He is an easy target for the boo boys as he looks lazy at times but his distribution is second too none. He won our POTY this season as I am sure you have read and baring in mind outr last two POTys have been Peter Clarke (Hudders) and Nicky Bailey (******) then it gives you an idea how good he is.

Would have been the last player I wanted to see leave with the possible exeception of Anthony Grant.

Thanks for the information about him seems if we get him we have got a good player on our hands thanks again for the responses and good luck next year and hope to see you get promoted.

you will be getting a bargin at £150,000 if he is used correctly and if he is coached correctly. I'm not toally convinced we did either point well

The most technical player since Maher left. His defensive attributes have improved dramatically since the championship and he was clearly our best player last year. He will be missed as League Two would have been a doddle for him and no doubt he has the ability to play in the Championship.

Nearly 200 posts and I don't think anyone has said it yet so I will. Well done to the club for keeping us informed about this.

Didn't want to start a new thread...

Tilson doesn't think he will join them.

http://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/theblues/8185372.Tilson_not_sure_Francis_will_join_Brentford/

I hope he doesn't go to Brentford it would really wind me up.
What really gets to me is that we give these players a chance, for example Francis was in and out on loans, with no hope if we are all honest, and we where the only club to give him a chance, and as soon as he can get out he will try! Really ****es me off! Agents have ruined this game!
People saying that Francis was our best player last season, he was don't get me wrong, he was by far the best, but it doesn't get away from the fact that he was in the back four, for 2 seasons where we were relegated. Not putting this all on Francis' shoulders obviously. But is it really a coincidence?

And it also looks like Moussa is going to leave, even though he is away at the moment, and he still might sign his contract. He has forced his way through the youth system.
And we, probably, would have been the only ones to give these two guys a chance. Not only these two, but Barnard, Bailey, I can go on. We just are used as a stepping stone. We are in such dire straits or the agents and players are completely stupid that Brentford (no offence) are seen as a step in bettering yourself.

Players like Peter Clarke for example who also got us relegated, moved away. Moussa if he goes (I hope he doesn't) also got us relegated for the stupid sending off at Bristol. And they think of themselves so highly that they will move on. There is no loyalty, and I don't know if it is just me or what! But if I was a professional footballer I would show loyalty to whatever team I played for.
No offence to Mildenhall but he was in goal in a season we where relegated, and he is looking to move away. What is even worse is that I and we all are seeming to get upset about players like Moussa and Francis (however much potential they have) moving on. Now I would love to keep those two.

Although if they all end up staying, they will contribute to a successful season next year, and I would like them all to stay, and as none of them have moved on yet I still stay loyal towards them. (Just to cover my back)

We'd have stood a better chance of retaining him, if we'd payed his wages, and shown some desire to assemble a decent squad, capable of finishing in the top 6, rather than ponce about with loans. I agree most football agents are *****, but cannot be blamed for the above reasons.

Back 4? We've had about 12 different guys play at the back this term. I said this would happen ages ago. If your relying on loan signings, and not bringing in permanent players, then it'll all end on tears. For that fact, Relegation was always on the cards this season. In fact we would/could have been relegated the season before, (however we got lucky in the loan market).

Francis deserves the least amount of abuse for his contribution.

As for the CCC, we were relegated with a host of brilliant players.

And it also looks like Moussa is going to leave, even though he is away at the moment, and he still might sign his contract. He has forced his way through the youth system.

We'll always be a stepping stone, or a feeder club. Unless you are the top of the pile in Europe, you'll always be a feeder club.
Brentford might be a sideways move, but they have the ambition and potential financial backing to be able to try and compete. What can we offer? Basement league football, a team half filled with cast-offs, youngsters and freebies. Another potential relegation fight, a mythical stadium? **** that for a laugh, i wouldn't wanna stay here either. Oh and at least Brentford will pay his wages

The thing is that we need these players to leave simply because we need to free up their space on the wagebill. McCormack and Francis were signed in The Championship, Barrett renegotiated his contract in that division and Mildenhall signed in League One because we were offering a lot more money than he could get elsewhere. The money we spend on those four could pay eight or nine players in League Two.

A whole re structure of the wage bill is a necessity and is inevitable.
Until these players decide on their futures we can't invest or look to invest in the team.
Should Tilson and Ron just say, 'right if you don't want to stay, tell us and we will make it known' And just completely forget about trying to persuade them to stay with us?
That way we can look to and get in serious talks with lower league players, someone has already mentioned that Mildenhall, Macca, Moussa, Francis, Adam (please don't go Adam) and I suppose you can include Barnard in that, free's up a lot of cash, and possibly using their wages to pay two League 2 player's wages that is about 12 players on that cut alone. You possibly can include Betsy's and Alex Revell's wages in that. Which possibly frees up an average of about 1,000 a week for 12 new players. But we all think that this free up of cash will go straight into Ron's propping up funds. Personally I doubt Ron will be doing that again this year. Because without a quick return to League 1 all plans for Ron will be scuppered. We should keep Barret.

I'm bored of explaining why it wouldn't matter, so please, if you will enlighten me, why will Ron's plans be scuppered?

If we build a 22,000 seater stadium and we are in League 2, we will get the same crowds as we do now, maybe a few more, but it's doubtful. So 6 - 7,000 crowds in a 22,000 seater stadium. Ron has explained, and it doesn't need explaining, we need to be getting 15,000+ crowds in the new stadium to make it sustainable. So we are already a club that can't pay bills. Ron already has to prop up a club that has an 11,000 seater stadium with crowds of 6 - 8 thousand every week. So we would be a club that is insolvent in an unsustainable stadium. With an unsustainable amount of people with their bums on seats. If you will enlighten me please tell me how this can actually be possible without a millionaire buyer?

Maybe you could explain it another way, as i fail to see how you've pointed out why it is so detrimental to Ron?

What? You don't understand that Ron will have to prop up the football club forever with 6,000 gates in a 22,000 seater venue? Or....

LOL, Ron is in this for one thing. ALways has been. Once he's acheived that goal, do you actually think he'll stay? Hahaha He has no intentions of making the club solvent/sustainable etc. All he cares about is building his empire. Once that's complete, he no longer needs SUFC...for anything!! For all he cares, we could go to the wall. He'll still make his money

Back to the origional point, it doesn't matter if we're in L1, L2 or the ESL Ron will still want the plans to go ahead. And i'm still sceptical that the new ground will even get built
