Freddy Eastwood scored a memorable hat-trick on his first team debut back in 2004 to help Blues beat Swansea City 4-2 at Roots Hall before going on to fire Steve Tilson’s side to successive promotions.

Eastwood bagged 49 goals in his first two seasons with the Shrimpers before also netting the only goal of the game in a memorable League Cup win against a Manchester United team containing Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He joined from Grays Athletic their ground was sold for housing by the clubs' owner.

But who was he or she?

Mick Woodward was their owner when they sold us Eastwood.Im not sure if he owned Bridge Road though

He was well known in the world of non league football.
Grays are trying to get Thurrocks old ground.Hopefully they are successful as not had their own ground for pushing 20 years

They seem to have been turned down again.

The ground was leased by Grays not owned by them. It was owned by Ron Billings (club patron) and when he died the club was unable to negotiate a new lease with his family and the land was redeveloped.

Thank you very much Billings was of course a very rich man.....Mick Woodward (he was a bankrupt) was involved with the club (I am unsure what he is doing now).

Many moons ago he wanted to own Romford and play at Barkingside.
He in the end was not permitted to play the club there.
