It was indeed, Col******r V Manchester City, I remember thinking what an insult it was to football that the ewes should be chosen to be the first team to host pay per view football. Must have been a while ago now, 98/99?

I think that it was more a case of running a commercially viable PPV test than choosing Col U.

Manchester City were in Div 2 at the time and were taking 5,000 away fans everywhere they went. Obviously Layer Cake Rd only holds about that in it's entirity, so it was thought that a lot of mancs would buy the PPV as they had no chance of getting in.
