Gomis closing in on debut, outwide ?

Seems that whilst we thought he was a specialist defensive midfielder Phil Brown fancies him as wide player, which would be great if he can play there.

Sounds like he might be playing in the coming games.

Totally agree with this, Hurst has been similarly bad but for some reason doesn't get anywhere near the same level of criticism as Straker.

When Hurst has a bad game you don't notice he is on the pitch at times and he can slip under the radar, but when Straker has a bad game it is obvious as everything he tries doesn't come off.

Hurst has 3 goals in his last 5 league games so cant be doing that bad.

Hurst is one of the top scorers and assists records in the league, he gets more leeway and rightly so. Also bear in mind in 442 he has been asked to play further back the last two games.

Straker hasnt scored in 10 odd games and doesnt create as much. He has his moments for sure, but they are far too far apart and has too many bad ones to go with them, he isnt in the same league as Hurst. Apart from being in exactly the same league of course.

When Hurst has a bad day he often loses the ball, but more often than not pops up with a goal or an assist. When Straker has a bad day he just loses the ball.

Exactly as others have said, you notice more when Straker has a bad day at the office. I thought Gomis was more defensive minded, so unless Brown has "developed" him into a wide player I wouldn't expect to see him there.

If finances won't stretch to buying another wide man...............you create one with what you've got. Isn't the first time PB has ressurected a player by moving him forward and out wide..........even if that player is a little hit and more miss. At least Gomez started as a midfielder.
