Meh. It's a development squad game, Newcastle game would have put this one in the shade anyway.

How are they going to police that where fans of both teams can walk around all 4 sides of the ground? Embarrassing

We have a thread where people moan that we are taking profit from GWR

Since when have West Ham fans ever just stayed in the away end for a friendly at Roots Hall? You normally can't move for confused looking plastic cockneys in pretty much every part of the ground...

Probably be the biggest ever crowd at Wakerings ground.
Mind you the pitch there isn't brilliant not very flat, bare patches and usually rock hard.

Hopefully it'll be played in the kind of spirit where policing won't be as necessary. There'll be less of the more traditional West Ham supporters and hopefully more families there.

I hope Great Wakering make a few quid from this, their club house and bar should be busy. This match and Saturdays game will be vital revenue for the club, cash like this is a lifeline for GWR and enables them to keep afloat.

And long may it continue too. I think is vital for clubs like ours to support local sides and form great links for friendlies and potentially sign local talent.

how about putting it to the vote who would rather see Newcastle or Wet spam xi .

I think the club has already done an internal vote, hence the pitch being unready one day but absolutely fine three days later. Didn't want to play two games on it in quick succession so dumped the least attractive. Perhaps ticket sales had disappointed?

Plus the weather has now picked up. Probably could have played on it but a decision was made during unprecedented weather conditions.
