Shrimperzone F.C. - Odysseus Jousting 3 - 0

Date: 12/2/2003 at 21:00
MatchID: 13304166
Arena: Shrimperzone F.C. Arena
Crowd:

The 684 spectators at Shrimperzone F.C. Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Shrimperzone started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Torrance - Ayling, Castellvell, Pearmain, Johnson - Pike, Afford, Winman, Beramendi - Arechi, Hart.

Odysseus had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Kojak - Murphy, Parker, Parson - Sparke, Guilfoyle, Faison, Glacken, Davidson - Cross, Hall.

Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a 6:th minute goal by Giovanni Arechi for Shrimperzone, putting them ahead 1 - 0. In the games 23rd minute, Quentin Afford could have extended the lead, but his very hard free kick went just over the bar. Odysseus seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. In the 29:th minute Shrimperzone put themselves up 2 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Tim Hart coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. In the 41st minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Giovanni Arechi dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Shrimperzone. The teams went for a half-time break at 3 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Shrimperzone, with an impressive 81 percent possession of the ball.

Odysseus -coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players looked a lot more organized. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 53 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Shrimperzone. However, Allan Kojak made a spectacular save. In the 73rd minute Shrimperzone´s Adam Winman tried to nail the coffin shut, but the shot rebounded off the bar to fall behind the net. The home side´s Quentin Afford came close to extending the lead in the 83rd minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but Allan Kojak managed saving with a fingernail. Shrimperzone, bringing the final ball possession rate to 78 percent, dominated the battle.

Most important Shrimperzone player was Nick Torrance. John Pearmain was a disappointment, however. Odysseus´s best player was Paul Parson. Stuart Guilfoyle on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.

FC Gambero - Cestrian Allstars 9 - 0

Date: 12/2/2003 at 21:00
MatchID: 13296566
Arena: Fossetts Farm
Crowd: 2055

The 2055 spectators at Fossetts Farm were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Gambero started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Mawe - Hay, Rosenbaum, Cameron - Esenay, Davison, Jourdain, Pratt, Bellver - Clarkson, Álvarez.

Cestrian started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Collings - Provost, Capelhorn, MacCowan, Fournier - Taillon, Charest, Tétrault, Purcell - Burbidge, Blanchet.

Gambero seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Gambero broke through to the left in the 12th minute, Michael Davison firing at an acute angle giving the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Okan Esenay was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the enemy box - Nicholas Clarkson managed to kick one of them into 2 - 0 in the 23rd minute. With 24 minutes played Michael Davison could have brought this one home for Gambero, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. In the 28:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Nicholas Clarkson dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Gambero. The structure of the game started to change as Gambero decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. 36 minutes into the game Gambero were awarded a penalty that Nicholas Clarkson turned into 4 - 0 without a problem. By then Nicholas Clarkson was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Halftime score was 4 - 0. Gambero held the ball, with a clear 71 percent possession rate.

In the 47:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Michael Davison dashed through, knocking home 5 - 0 for Gambero. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Gambero´s Miguel Ángel Álvarez was able to shove the ball in. 6-0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Michael Davison squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 54:th minute, asserting the lead to 7 - 0. At that, Michael Davison was noted down for a hat trick. Gambero put themselves up 8 - 0 when Aaron Cameron broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. Gamberos Fernando Bellver got himself booked after a foul. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,Cédric Charest spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Seemingly due to lack of experience, Cédric Charest needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The home crowd just couldn´t believe it as Nicholas Clarkson missed a penalty in the 78:th. In the 80:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Michael Davison dashed through, knocking home 9 - 0 for Gambero. Gambero held the ball, with a clear 53 percent possession rate.

Gambero´s best player was Miguel Ángel Álvarez. Aaron Cameron on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Cestrian player was without a doubt Darren Capelhorn. Michael Fournier was a disappointment, however. The match ends 9 - 0.

I didn't know when we were going to be playing, so didn't have a chance to tinker. Oh well. Confidence is high among the squad, even if we're in debt.
