My abiding memory of that match, beyond the red card, was that we'd signed Julian Hails after the Echo had gone to print on the Friday and in those pre-internet days no one had heard of the guy at all before he was announced in the team that afternoon.

My first Southend Match. McMahon's first match as Swindon Boss. The awesome Roger Willis and Andy Edwards did the damage.

That first goal looks familiar! :winking:

Was at that game in the South Upper.

Can't see at work - was this the game where Steve McMahon got sent off?

It's all a bit grainy - the only way I could tell that it was Sammy in goal and not Roycie was because there was a goal kick that crossed half way - but I think so.

Remember that game well, love McMahon's walk of shame, am I right in thinking he was their manager at the time?

Edit - I see that Weston's left foot has already confirmed he was, didn't realise it was his first game in change though :hilarious:

Good lord, it took long enough to get those highlights up didn't it. And I thought Sky was bad! ;-)

Indeed, though I did spot someone sitting in the South Upper with a cup of tea, when Sammy saved that shot! :winking:
