Cricko mentioned a song called 'Patches' on another thread today, which I suggested was "hilariously awful," and this reminded me of another that eclipses this ... 'I've Never Been To Me' by Charlene.

Please feel free to suggest some more classics from the 'Hilariously Awful' range ...

Just remembered that Bernard Manning did a version of 'Girlfriend In A Coma' on The Word back in '92-'93. That was phenomenal. :hilarious:

There's been some awfully mawkish songs dealing with teenagers deaths from Tell Laura I Love Her by Ricky Valance to Leader of the Pack by The Shangri-Las but this song is hilariously terryble.

This definitely fits the awful bit although the jury's still out on the hilarious part......

The hilarious bit about this song was that it knocked that up its own Ultravox song 'Vienna' off the top of the charts back in early '81.

Good grief - I'm wrong! Just checked my Guinness book of British Hit Singles and yes, Richie and Firestorm are right. Well, well, well ... I surprise even myself sometimes. :stunned:
