How long can Southend United keep Daniel Bentley's form a secret?

SOUTHEND United continued their charge up the League Two table with a convincing and commanding 3-0 win against promotion rivals Chesterfield in another entertaining encounter at Roots Hall on Saturday.

We need a right thrashing by Hull with Leonard scoring 2 own goals and Bentley letting a couple roll under his body in a 6-0 drubbing.
Scouts then go away , we continue with our great run in the League , go up as Champions , Phil gets MBE and Ron gets knighted !

Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Hull City could well see scouts flocking to the game to see how the Wickford based keeper deals with defending up against a Premier League side

Come on guys. Let's make this a sell out, if only to keep the scouts away.

Although it may be obvious for Dan to be sold the club must accept whatever offer is made by a club that wants to sign him and at present none seem to have stumped up as much as a low starting bid. Then Dan has to agree to going and want the terms offered to him and also the set up of the buying club in the belief that it will not only be socially acceptable to his circumstances but also productive to his career: all these things coming together for a happy, young, local player will mean that unless it is a "too good to refuse" club then Dan should be with us for the rest of the season and hopefully beyond
Similarly with any other contracted players; unless they are over 28/29 then they are not looking only for a 3 year good earner to finish their playing career & most of our lads are low 20s and anything less than a top half championship club may be under selling themselves. Finally happiness does sometimes count for a lot in a settled workplace which is what they have and are enjoying at present.

He's progressing very well and I am a big fan but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. He's not even had a full season in League 2 yet.

Wouldnt be surprised if we spend the next 5 months "bigging him up" to try and get a big sale in the summer. Dont see him going in the next 10 days.

No he won't be sold is this window to me it doesn't make sense to any party involved. He will be worth far more in the summer after a full season, and we could well go up as well so he gets higher level football and the comfort of knowing that he is the no 1 goalie or we miss out and get a nice fee in the summer let Smith go and sign someone else
