On Tuesday evening we have ex-Select Group referee, Keith Stroud from Gillingham in Dorset (not sure why they list him as Hampshire). In his seventh season as a League referee he has risen through the ranks and was employed as a PGMO official for 2 years, although he was given no Premiership matches for the second year whilst they sorted out contractual issues. Seems unfair that referees like Attwell are allowed to screw up time and time again and Stroud and Tanner were not given a fair crack of the whip. If the face fits.

He has done Southend 6 times before (2 w 2 l 2 d) the most notable being the vital end of season victory against Bristol City. The only previous away games were also in London - the 2-2 draw at Orient and, more recently, a couple of seasons ago at Millwall (1-1) when he booked 7 (4 of them theirs).

A somewhat short official who doesn't hesitate to produce cards if necessary but is right more often than wrong. He does appear to like being noticed.

Assistants are Mike Blackledge from Cambridge and Gary Evetts from Hertford, with 4th official duties being carried out by Charles Breakspear from Walton-on-Thames

Mick, he'll be listed as Hampshire as he'd be a Hampshire FA Official.

Football counties follow the same boundaries as the English counties did before they were altered. For example AFC Bournemouth play in the footballing county of Hampshire, even though Bournemouth is actually in Dorset now.

Peterborough is geographically in Cambridgeshire, but football-wise it's either Northamptonshire or Huntingdonshire, depending on which side of the river! Peterborough United are a Northamptonshire FA club and have no affiliation to Cambridgeshire FA.

Confusing, hey!
