Conspiracy theory here but after the fracas between the pair is there more to it than meets the eye

Does anyone else think it a bit strange that Macca would not commit to a new deal, then this whole thing with Bailey blows up very quickly and looks most likely to leave the club. Macca is then reported to be happy to sign a new deal tomorrow.

Was Rons seemingly strange / bold move to transfer the 3 players merely a ploy to flush out a problem with Bailey ?????

Maybe - but as I have said on the "Simon Francis" thread, it may well be a good thing overall...

I don't think Ron would flush Bailey out and put him on the list to do so. But I DO think there's more to the bust-up than meets the eye.

IMO, their brilliant partnership on CM fell apart after the bust up and neither player has looked the same since, especially in the Donny matches. I think there's a lasting animosity there personally.

I'm pretty certain that the difference between them is that Nicky Bailey is an outstanding player who is being courted by numerous championship sides all offering to (more than) double his Southend wages, whilst Alan McCormick is merely a decent player who is happy to collect a pay rise at Southend.

I think Bailey's performances tailing off coincided more with the rumours I was hearing about him being tapped up. If you desperately want to start a wild conspiracy theory maybe suggest that Bailey deliberately started a fight with McCormack to try and engineer a move away. Personally, I think the fight had nothing to do with new contracts and Bailey being listed.

and other players taking sides makes it worse , if so its sad we fell apart because someone lost there temper big time!!!!!!!!

After the head-butt incident, we had one game against Port Vale where most of the players didn't break a sweat and then two games against Donny in which they employed three men in the middle to curb the influence of Bailey & McCormack. I hardly feel that anything can be read into their recent form.

I think that is the harsher comment I've read on here for some time. I know Macca has been criticised by a few on here for a few performances in the latter part of the season, however in every game I saw this season Macca was pivotal in our success this year. While also being absolutely immense last season in the Championship. Had he arrived in August rather than November, there is a fair possibility we would never have been relegated. Let's not be a bit too short-sighted.

I hardly consider describing Macca as a decent player as harsh and it wasn't meant as a criticism at all. By decent I mean a good league one player, as opposed to an outstanding league one player. Not being as outstanding as Nicky Bailey is nothing to be ashamed about.

your right not being as outstanding as nicky[the nutt] bailey is nothing to be ashamed about.

Bailey and Macca are still good mates, or so thats what I'm being led to believe. Bailey is off because there is massive interest in him from Premiership/Championship Clubs and he wants more than double his wages.

Macca is a cracking player, and I can see him here for a long time yet.
