Justin Rees shaves Paul's 44cm hair off for charity [VIDEO]

I genuinely love this.

I mean, it could still all go to **** from here (didn’t Mike Ashley start off sinking pints and winning over the Newcastle fans?) but talk about a breath of fresh air.

Don’t need much - just someone who’s genuine, has the clubs best interests at heart and understands its place in the community.

He and the consortium still need to be held to account based on their actions of course. PR is great but what they do is how they should be judged.

But still, that level of engagement is part of the whole picture. So far so good on that front.

Very well said.

Bloody great ain't it mate ! 👍 Yes there are examples of new ownership that have played the PR card, courted popularity and then proved not to be the Golden Ticket! But he has and does come across as a genuine guy. How he became involved with us does have a hint of fate. Successful business man, undertaking a bit of a sabbatical, has his interest stirred by a mixture of a love for football, a crises club looking for a buyer and in need of restructuring. Enter stage left a Project Manager with idle hands and the chance to create his own reality version of Football Manager 😆 No all joking aside there is something about this that feels right, the way the Consortium spreads the financial risk exposure that a single ownership has. The inclusion of existing fans in it's DNA. The pre take over approach has offered so much in the way of optisim I can't wait for the arrival of post take over positivity, especially as there are some quick wins to be had with embargo lifting, contract issues dealt with and no doubt new match day supporter experiences to be enjoyed. Then it's all about the project and the achieving of short and long term ambition which will only come about by long term commitment. It does seem Justin has been bitten by the Shrimpers bug and has developed more of emotional buy in then even he expected. Hopefully that will only help to underpin and strengthen our new owners relationship with both Club and Supporter.

Indeed; Ashley already had history when he went to Newcastle, I had a mate who was well done over by one of his companies many years before he went to the north east!

However, as said, our potential new guy seems genuine and, hopefully, represents in his past, and future, the positive side of capitalism!
