All about increasing his experience at a higher level and seeing how he copes with a view to renewing his contract and failing that raising his profile and potential transfer value if Wigan don't want to keep him. I would have thought it makes perfect business sense.

Fully agree with all you have written , but would again add that if he doesn't get in the team ( and they are top of their League ) it rather defeats the object.

Macca was always a good player when the team were doing well. It's when we were struggling that he turned **** and flew off on holiday.
 
Decent loan move for him,higher league,knows a few players from his time with them before,and may even end up with a league winners medal come May
