Once saw Laurie Cunningham play for Real Madrid at Sabadell.

On a wet, muddy day he was the only RM player not to need to change his kit at HT.

Make of that what you will.

and Terry Howard is not the one who would play for Chelsea, Orient and Wycombe. (unless he started playing at 6)

Great memories, shown Sunday afternoon on LWT's The Big Match if memory serves me correctly.

I have always wondered how the commentator was going to complete his sentence - 'Booing of the black players...' before Tony Brown interrupted him mid flow by equalizing for the Baggies!

He features in another England quiz question.....Hope I remember the exact number correct.....15 England players from the 70's who's surname began with a C.......No cheating.

Being England who failed to qualify for the 74 or 78 World cup, I believe they all had the middle name crap.

Name sounds Norwegian - that's the best I can do !

I remember reading about him in a 1971-72 handbook or programme about him , I am sure he was English all my old programmes are up in the loft under all the junk , will see if I can find it .

I loved that game for the Baggies when he ran amok with Cyrille Regis in the destruction of Man U in late '78.

FA Cup Winner with the Dons in '88 too.

Great seeing that again, WBA were absolute class back then, such an exciting team then, bet the baggies fans would kill for a bit of that nowadays..

Old Ron Atkinson at the end "Think I'd give it to one of the coloured players up front..." I bet you would Ron !

Joe Corrigan
Steve Coppell
Trevor Cherry
Ray Clemence
Dave Clement
Alan Clarke
Tony Currie
Mike Channon

... just over halfway there.

I don't think Len Cantello played for England at full level but if he did he was another WBA player with Laurie ... and then there was also Martin Chivers ...

Just took a peek at Uncle Leo's answers and looks like we're nearly there depending on whether Cantello was right or not.

'Lawrie'

Very pleasing to see that news about the blue plaque today.

Tony Grealish lining up for the Orient side too; he was no mug. Like Cunningham, played in an FA Cup Final.

The name Arvid Gundersen caught my eye too - not typically the sort of name you'd expect to see in a reserve team match from the early 1970s. Anyone know the story there?

Looking throgh an old programme it gave some info on Arvid Gundersen, he was born in North Weald Essex and was 16 years old and a midfield player , it also said that his father birthplace was Haugesund Norway .
