Local towns with no stadium

Wickford Town FC have Bartletts Park, I've always wondered why they've not got a semi-pro mens team, there's room to build a stadium on that land but there's pylons nearby and overhanging electricity cables.

At East Thurrock, there's an electricity substation nearby. A wild clearance ended up in it and fused the power for half of Corringham! Even funnier, it was an evening match so no lights in the bar or changing rooms, no beer pumps, cold showers!

Wickford, Rayleigh, Benfleet (although Benfleet FC play at Canvey). Surprised at these, really.
Rayleigh has always punched well below its weight when it comes to Saturday football. Are there many other towns in Britain with a population over 30,000 that are that low down the pyramid?

Plenty of good Sunday teams back in the 80's. Fairview park, then onto the Silver Jubilee to squeeze a few in before the 2pm bell.

When you think of the likes of Heybridge, Maldon, Witham, it does seem odd.

It's quite a 'new' home for Wickford Town - their previous site was much smaller.
