With there being no trains arriving in London till 7.05 the next day (!), I'm seriously considering staying overnight after the Macc game, but I'm having a few problems in finding some suitable, cheap accommodation in Macclesfield. Anyone else staying overnight, and where are places to look out for? Bear in mind, I'm a student!

Cheers.

OK, this is pretty random - and it is outside Macclesfield itself, a few miles away from the town. However, I'll be staying there myself this weekend, since I'm going to a wedding near Macclesfield on Saturday, and I think it looks quite nice.

Moreover, at £22 B&B, I'd say it's pretty reasonably priced!

Here's the website - it's called Goose Green Farm.

Incidentally, if you're going up by train, get your tickets in advance - otherwise they are hideously, mind-bogglingly expensive. Minimum £54 return, and often £94. Bloody Branson...

I'm going up (and staying over) and tickets are £34 return from Reading. Ouch!

I should point out that if you get a 3 day advance, then the fare can be as low as £22. But as for "on the day" fares - the cheapest single is (I thnk) £53.20.

Will be leaving for Macc come what may in the Weetabix jalopy with The Fitter and The Sav but still hopeing that some poor soul breaks down and requires recovery in that general direction. I do the recovery, Sav helps with the loading and The Fitter is on hand in a purely observational role. And that saves wear and tear on the silver hearst.

Crafty er?

Thanks for the response Matt, but it does look like I'll have to give Macc a miss. Shame, as I was banking on doing all the remaining games...

If I can't get back to Lancaster that night I was thinking of staying at a hostel in Manchester.  This was the cheapest one I found at 15.50 GBP for the night. It also looks like it is fairly close to Manchester Piccadilly train station.  I hope this helps.

You under estimate my rubbing of the chin saying we can't touch it till Thursday role.

These humble actions ensure that the recovery is assured.

I would have thought so. The away capacity is well over 2,000 and I very much doubt we'd take even a third of that total, especially after the last week ...
