I don't think it's the fixture and Kev it's just the timing.

Right between a long and expensive trip to Gateshead, rochdale and potentially FGR and Wembley.

Thats this issue here
Is that such an issue though? The cost of 2 drinks for the most loyal servant to this club? I've bought one and am not overly bothered if I can go or not... it's just something to say thank you to him and should have happened years ago.

For most no.

But if you have done Gateshead are doing rochdale and potentially FGR next week then that is a very big outlay to follow the blues.

In the current climate that is a hell of a lot of money and some will rather spend the money on the teams promotion.of it was a choice.

I'll likely spend the money on a ticket and may or may not go.

I know what you're saying, and if the ticket was £25 I might have more sympathy with that POV.

But if someone has spent money on going to Gateshead (likely 3 figures unless they got a freebie lift there and back), is going to Rochdale (probably a similar amount) and potentially FGR (again, not much different) plus then Wembley and the inevitable celebrations/commiserations after every one of those games, then to say they can't afford a £10 ticket to a testimonial for one of the blokes who worked for nothing so our club could survive... well, that doesn't wash with me.

Lack of finance isn't a valid reason. It's more likely that those with partners will have trouble getting a pass to YET ANOTHER night out watching a Southend match, and this one being a non competitive one. Or they may not like Kevin Maher (which is fine btw. They're allowed.).

We cant make it, but usual adult and 2 concessions bought. Hopefully enough are sold to make it a decent few quid for Kev, and enough turn up to make it a night for him to remember.

I genuinely don’t understand why this has not been rearranged, bizarre.
Because plenty have people have already given up their time to be there, and rearranging potentially throws out lots of those due to play? I don’t think it’s bizarre at all.

Fans making the choice not to go to this (excluding those who can’t l) should absolutely reconsider and turn up.

I would love to be there for this, but away for the weekend and wife has had to give up Olly Murs tickets, so can't grumble I guess

I have got two senior tickets for Friday but am unable to make it now. If anyone is out there that would like them free I will happily send them to you

Our fans will willy wave all over social media about how many fans we take away and how great our support is, but won't turn up/buy a ticket for someone without whom there would be no Southend United. Poor.
I had the same thought.

I have bought tickets to support Kev, but won’t be able to go as will no doubt get home at 3am from the Rochdale game and then have to go to work the next day and don’t live locally. What I am saying ithe timing is not encouraging people to attend. We never have games 2 days running in the league. My gripe is there is actually no real thought about this the fan and also the loss of potential money for Kev. Anyway it is what it is, just poorly arranged in my view.

Out of interest does anyone know what the last testimonial was at Roots Hall, feels like it was years ago?
