Memory Lane Man City FA Cup Highlights from 1956

Before my time but I know some of our veteran supporters will remember it. It was a rare match that my Mum attended and I recall her saying that Bert Trautman had a great game and we were unlucky with one goalbound effort that got stuck in the mud.

Sorry - the link's been disabled, sadly.

Veteran ? Don't you mean from the grave ? 65 years ago lol

This is the one game that my Dad told me about more than any other. Every time anyone mentioned the Banks wonder save against Brazil in 1970, he would state that Trautman's save in this game was better, and that he 'literally changed direction in midair'. And he played in the Cup Final with a broken neck - what a legend.

Yes,but it was a whole succession of absolutely incredible saves by Bernt Trautmann .. As a 6 year old in the packed-to-capacity paddock,my abiding lingering memory is of my usually quiet mother screaming “Quick !!! He’s out of his goal !!!”
