Anyone heard any more about the rumour that MKD will merge with Luton ? --(Mentioned on 'The Championship' last Sunday) . Am I right in thinking that if it happened it could do us a favour ?

So instead of having one mediocre sized shyte team and one even smaller **** shyte team there will, in effect, be one average shyte team. Yes?

The only advantage I can see in this is that I'll never have to go to that Godforsaken, windswept sh|thole they call a ground again.

MK Dons are moving to their massive new stadium soon anyway:

So if they merge there will be no wind swept hockey stadium and no trips to Kenny road , Win Win as far as I can see.

New capacity will be 30k!?! So thats 3000 from Mk and 6000 from Luton.... just the 21000 for away fans then!

Just found this on their official site:

Mil-u-ton K Dons ?

Looks pretty impressive to me although lacking the class of the Fossetts design .But they are going to need to find someone to fill it . So why not Luton ?- and for that matter Watford .

Will feel sorry tho for that guy who runs the kosher chippy at Ken Rd.And the traffic wardens with nothing to do

But what I meant by doing us a favour wasn't just thinking of no more trips to luvlee Luton but whether if MKD acquired Luton would only two go down ?

Hmm, can't see that happening, and hopefully the football league won't allow it.
Watford already have a 21,000 seater stadium and it's a fair way from MK.

I reckon MK Dons are doomed...they're most peoples "second team" up here after the usual suspects and 3,000 in a 30,000 stadium will just be a joke. I think the stadium is being built more as a music venue than a football one as The Bowl is mooted to be where the new casino is going to be built.

Well , bein local I'm sure you must be right , but they are still gonna need 'bums on seats' each week . maybe I'm clutching at straws but I just hoped that it could be good news for us .

It won't happen!! Simple as that! Too many people in Luton will stop it. I know so many people in Luton & surrounding areas to know it won't happen!

So what would they call the new team? Luton MK Dons? How about they team up with the other local clubs in the area and we call them 'Luton Hornet Cobblers MK Oxford Dons'

They be call the MK Hatterdon's. to be hinest if that name had been in existence for 100 years it would have alot of character.

Luton have permission for their own new stadium I can't see it happening tbh.

If they get relegated it may become a bit more of an appealing idea for them.

should the merger happen, the league rules state that the merged team take the lower placed league.division 2 beckons !!

Thanks Lombard - was hoping someone would say that . Wonder what the chances really are - can't be much of an incentive for the players if ITV are telling them they won't exist in a couple of months time .

And what would Mike Newell do ? Join Wiggy selling Pukka pies ???:)

Yes let it happen, it will mean no more going to Luton's horrible ground and and even worse area the ground is in.
Seriously its not going to happen. They are not goin to let a club like Luton disappear. its happened with Wimbeldon it won't happen again. MK Dons will become even more hated if thats possible.
