Breaking News National League working on introducing a streaming platform for the second half of the season

I used to watch all of the away games that I couldn't go to when we were in the EFL. I still get all of the EFL and prem games now, even 3pms. It hasn't affected crowds in the EFL and I doubt it would affect National League gates either

I fully support this
Will it stop me from attending any matches - probably not and will still go to quite a few.
Obviously, the longer distance ones and midweek games I have to weigh up in going and with the cost of living increase even more so now.

I would happily part with £10 to access this and if it goes ahead could be an extra money earner for some clubs.
This is 2022 now

To be fair showing games on TV has destroyed the first division attendances.

In no way has making the game more accessible to people around the world been a good thing for English football.
Run that by me again?
By first division, you mean Premier League, I guess?
There's no indication attendances have dropped in the top flight. Quite the reverse: try buying a ticket for most PL games!
Season tickets at most are sold out, even at the ludicrous prices being charged.

No it hasn't.

PL and CH are two of the most attended leagues in the world

Within 3 years most people will have free football via some site or another. The crowds will be down and the clubs will be making very little from the service.
They already do as far the top-flight goes.
There are half a dozen pirate sites showing all PL matches every Saturday at 3pm.
These are feeds nicked from TV showings in other countries, of course.
However, attendances have increased.
As said, try buying a season ticket or any other kind for a number of PL clubs if not booked well in advance.
A fair few clubs in the NL are down to bare bones anyway.
I doubt very much Maidenhead, Dagenham, Wealdstone and Gateshead pick up more than the occasional floating voter.
Given what's on offer to their diehards, those 1,500 still turn up to most games.
However, larger clubs like ours have 'exiles' all over the globe.
It may mean more revenue, although yeah, if it's piddling down on a February Tuesday, that could be an acid test.

Great news for me. It wouldn’t stop me going to away games nearer me. Eastleigh/Yeovil/Aldershot and it won’t stop me going to the odd home game if I am back in the Essex area at the right time.

It will however allow me to watch every other game and probably earn the club a couple of hundred quid in the process that they wouldn’t have got.

I personally believe it will generate income in the short term, and maybe not quite so much in the longer term, but I don’t think it will ever be a bad thing showing the product to a wider audience.

Last season was literally the highest average attendance for an English top flight season in recorded history (going back to 1889).

The championship isn't quite as popular as it used to be in the post-WWII years but I suspect that's down to a lot of kids supporting premier league sides these days rather than their local club.

Hopefully that it’ll work, better customer service etc

For now. What’s dangerous is splitting that link between attending in person. Once you lose that it may never come back. For us who have grown up on watching our club that’s not an issue. But the next generations

I and my friends are an example of this as we do not attend anymore.

I had 35+ years of having a season ticket and have hardly attended since the Covid outbreak. I have lost the habit of and love for attending now. The days of freezing my nuts off inside a crap, rundown stadium after having difficulty in parking (unless you arrive sooo early) have I think gone forever!

Sad but true 😪

As I remember, a few years ago, with Blues Player, I was paying around £140 for the whole season's games! That worked out at little over £3 a game. I'd be hoping it wouldn't be too much more than that if it returned. As a pensioner on a fixed income not sure I could or would pay £10 (£460 a season). If it was at that price I may sadly have to be more selective in the games I watched.
