Just wondering we’ve had set back after set back regarding the new ground does anyone think it will be more bad news with the change of council in Southend with the conservatives now running things , or will they all be in favour of fossets? Or has Ron upset any of them in the past fingers crossed

Don’t think this matters. Is it only a Planning Dept matter now??
It might not directly affect our planning applications, but any drastic policy changes could see the Planning dept working overtime to alter/trash other plans that the new administration wants rid of.

TLDR: it could still cause delays depending on what the admin wants to focus on.

I’m sure there’s a few people in here that specialise in this area when it comes to politics that can answer this question. Surely it’s a good thing the conservatives are in now though ? Or am I being a rat bag ?

It's not good news, but I don't think it should have too much of a material impact because it is still a rainbow council. In terms of Fossetts, I seem to remember much of the opponents were Tory councillors, but that could well have been just because they didn't want to be seen to be siding with the leading party at the time. So I'd say it's not good news but it isn't fatal.

Whoever is in charge of the council needs to be building more homes as they are failing against these targets and have been for years.

Once the sale goes through who cares, we surely just revert to the original planning permission that has been granted?

Good to see they are binning the Seaway project, but could that then mean there could be more commercial infrastructure at Fossets even at this late stage?

@Jai my understanding was that housing targets have been scrapped. Politics!
As for SCC, I am not sure what it could change,
Tories have been a big negative on developments in the town for the last 60 years but nowadays they can no longer pretend that the city is a bastion of city workers.
And they must recognise the centre tower blocks are getting to a state of slum dwellings with RH and FF being the only, realistic option. ;

Okay all, please don't make this a 'what have the Tories done for us' thread, nor 'What will they do for us'. Politics discussions are still banned on the Zone and although we have allowed some licence if there is a direct impact on the club following decisions made, that is not the case at the moment. Just a friendly heads up.
