So in reality, to stand a chance of going up as Champions, you need to look to win around 30 matches and not lose more than about 7/8. And in exceptional seasons that may not be enough.
Of course it would.Genuine Q: Would the regular season have been hugely disappointing if we'd held on for 10 more mins?
I think they also got the number of clean sheets that Nick Hayes has kept wrong in the programmme.
Did he miss out the L1 playing budget that might have helped? My Wrexham supporting friend, who was instrumental in helping us get support from them during the difficult times, reminded me recently that they lost in the NL Play Offs and then stormed the league with 111 points the following year! If only, eh?
Nope, just edited that as that's what I said.Did he miss out the L1 playing budget that might have helped?
Buzz offI don't want or mean to patronise any Shrimper... You don't need to worry about getting 100 points right now. We averaged 198 points over 2 seasons, so 99 each season. It took us years to reach that level, so calm down, all. The target for next season has to be to score more points than last Season. Getting in the 80's should be a target set out to the players, coaching staff, and management. That will mean a successful Season and being in the mix...
Chesterfield may be a better example as they did the same thing, without the same levels of budget as Wrexham (although Wrexham may not have spent that much between those 2 seasons they had a very strong squad already assembled that only needed some tweaking)My Wrexham supporting friend, who was instrumental in helping us get support from them during the difficult times, reminded me recently that they lost in the NL Play Offs and then stormed the league with 111 points the following year, without spending huge amounts on players but just getting organised and up for it! If only, eh?
As I've said before though, Chesterfield benefited from a judicious marking of a cross on an insurance plan just pre covid for the relevant insurance. Their pay out was hefty in the extreme. Probably dwarfs what Wrexham put in.Chesterfield may be a better example as they did the same thing, without the same levels of budget as Wrexham (although Wrexham may not have spent that much between those 2 seasons they had a very strong squad already assembled that only needed some tweaking)
It only became the National League in 2015, prior to that it was the Conference.I can only think they've confused reaching 100 points with Barnet securing the fourth highest amount of points for a champion club.
It always will be the Conference.. Should we get promoted we will be back in Division 4It only became the National League in 2015, prior to that it was the Conference.

Barnet were only the third champions since it was branded the National League to reach 100 points, so the programme would still have been incorrect. It only became the National League in 2015, prior to that it was the Conference.
Bonne as captain I think. Hopper at CB?I think Bonne could stay as a winger. Not a 9. I don’t want to lose him I think his issues are psychological and he needs to be backed to shine. We can do that for him. Hopper can go. Walker is inconsistent but not terrible. Gubbins is the reason we have Bonne isn’t he? He’s been terrible at times and others he has surprised me. Crowther can absolutely go he has been last man and made critical judgment errors.
Taylor as captain. Not Gus. Not Ralph.
look at the ball on 9;15 or so, from this angle the ball spins after it passes GoodliffeNo he didn’t. I thought he did at the time, but on the reply he didn’t. Just really unlucky.
Good to see this again, without the nerves. (apart from the result of course).look at the ball on 9;15 or so, from this angle the ball spins after it passes Goodliffe
May even have Robert De Nero waiting to buy us.I just hope it won’t be a cruel, cruel summer. I heard Kev’s post final interview and he was really saying something but it ain’t what you do it’s the way that you do it. Still if Maher ends up moving on we can always get Nathan Jones, he’s been gone too long. But that’s the Bananarama National League for you.
I hope not. They wouldn't understand a word he says.May even have Robert De Nero waiting to buy us.
Spot on 100% agree. Apart from loans, I don’t like them, good players get recalled.Thankyou to the whole squad for some fantastic moments, intermixed with some awful dire stuff. One of our worst cup exits in club history and one of our most heroic cup exits in club history. Up and down season, injuries had a huge effect on us, from Miley to Coker to Collin and then the loss of another massive player for us in Golding in the run-in. Chuck in Kensdale, Cardwell and transfer embargo and its been an uphill battle all season. That never give up attitude from the management transmitted to the players and gave us a last hurrah.
It feels horrible to rip that up BUT i dont care, i want league football back. We are weak at the back, that needs strengthening with a couple of big and mobile hard players, i dont want a centre forward having to run back for set pieces in our box. This league is a big tough animal that needs taming.
Midfield must surely one day see KAF and Leon being tight together and feeding off each other in the middle, it has to happen. Then you got Noor, Miley and Coker backing them up. Gus would be excellent with a big central defence to protect him behind.
Ralph or Taylor needs to be squad players, Goodliffe send him back. Bridge brilliant sub to have, look at how he destroyed FGR.
Hayes will have grown from this experience and become that dominant keeper we crave and Collin will run him close for the shirt, they both need those dominant centre backs in front. We do need a left winger type to give Bridge competition and we do need someone who has power in their shots, someone better than Pepple even smacking shots from outside the box.
A fox in the box striker and a powerhouse striker needed, Bonne needs to go and so does Hopper. Wood out the door, Walker out the door.
Painful saying all that, cos i love them all, brilliant squad that Kev has had to rebuild 2/3 times that so nearly delivered. But if i was being ruthless, thats the way i would go. Gubbins i would keep, think he is getting better each game. Crowther gone too. God i hate myself ! I couldnt be a manager having to do all that.
Of course, in reality its probably a lot different, what with contracts adhered to and budgets.
Oh and about 7 loans for most positions, in case we find a star. Gus as captain.
Now go win the league.
