I normally start off by looking at previous matches between the two clubs; in this case there has been none.
So straight to tomorrow’s referee. We have a man in charge who will be unfamiliar to most on here although his surname will be instantly recognisable.
It will be Robert Massey-Ellis from Coventry, the husband (and Ellis part) of Sian Massey-Ellis who has regularly featured on televised Premier League matches proving to be one of the more reliable Assistant Referees.
In his late 30s, he is an Executive Director of a Medical Centre. Indeed, whilst his wife has been travelling the world officiating in all the top women’s tournaments, he has been engaged in all sorts of worthy activities. These include Operations Manager for the RSPCA, Management in the British Red Cross and Medical Manager for the British Army.
In his spare time, he has been working his way up through the ranks of non-league refereeing and is now in his second season as a National League referee. Last season his 13 matches saw 52 yellow cards and 4 reds, 3 of which were in the same match. This season he had already done 8 games with 36 yellows, but no reds. He has refereed Maidenhead just once before at this level, their 2-2 draw at Stockport last season when he cautioned 5 of their players and a couple of Stockport’s.
If he’s as good as Friday’s referee, there should be few complaints.
Assistants are Alan Cresswell from Harrow and Stephen Parkinson from Watford who performed a similar role in our Cup match against Chertsey. The latter is a former teacher of German who now works in health and well-being. Matthew Norton from Hertfordshire will be standing by as Fourth Official.
