Quote[/b] (Hong Kong Blue @ Dec. 27 2006,18:06)]Our fans are probably the worse in the division. Its not just the lack of quantity (I'm guessing only Col Ewe and maybe Luton/Barnsley have as few), more importantly its the lack of quality. What other grounds does the home team have to play well to silence the home support? If we aren't 1-0 up after 10 minutes our fans turn on the players. Forget the fact that two seasons ago most of them were playing 4th division football, the first misplaced pass is met with abuse.

Can you imagine the abuse our players would have got if we'd played like the home team had done in any of our last three away games? Sure, Spurs and Norwich went quiet and Luton never made any noise in the first place, but going quiet is preferable to shouting abuse at your own team.

If our fans were any good then every home game would sound like the last 20 minutes at home to Norwich did.
What a load of bollocks. Southend have great fans who make a lot of noise - especially away from home. You obviously didn't go to Spurs.
Of course we sound good for a game like Spurs. What lower league club away at a top premier$hite club and matching them wouldn't?

Our away support isn't bad, but our home support is atrocious.

If our home support was good every game would sound like the last 25 minutes at home to Norwich.

Cheers Steve,

They were a complete bunch of goons. They pulled me up for giving w&nker signs at their fans yet there must have been 50 off them doing it. I accept it was stupid so fair enough but then they spent the next 70 mins looking at Norwich fans doing the same thing.

Had the last laugh though as saw the copper as I left and told him I was going to be making a formal complaint and I took his number. Sure he wont really give a sh!t but he did seem relucatant to give his number to me.

I would say our home support is pretty comparable to 90% of other smaller teams. Not many clubs can generate a big atmosphere at home, Swansea at the Liberty and Hull at Boothferry are the only clubs that really stick out for me in terms of consistent home generated atmosphere in the last few seasons.

On the contrary, Dave, he will be concerned by it. Every formal complaint is investigated and, whatever the outcome of the probe, is permanently put on his file. They have a similar system to our beloved driving licence - certain number of points and you're disciplined. They could also, of course, uphold your complaint and discipline him immediately though. If you have a grievence go for it.

I know from my own experience a fair few years ago at Portsmouth. I was ejected for allegedly being drunk and disorderly when all I was actually doing was have a little scuttle around the visitors enclosure looking for my then-wife. Upon ejection, I took the officers' numbers, showed them my medication for epilepsy, and informed them that such tablets prohibit me from taking alcohol in any shape or form, thus proving them to be liars or fools. Complaint was duly lodged, police officers were duly suspended, and written apology from Hampshire Constabulary duly received.

Like I say, go for it Dave.

But have you heard a more negative crowd? The first misplaced pass and the crowd are on someone's back.

The one time we've really got behind the team we've inspired them from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 against a pretty decent team. Why don't we try that more often instead of whinging at the players and calling them c%&ts?

That's the South Upper for you

What? We were 4-0 down to Birmingham at home and the south upper still sang right till the end!
You mean some people actually stayed to the end of the game?

Surely if you went to any team who had only won 3 games all season after two years of success you would find a negative outlook.

Personally think some are being over the top but can understand why its like it is.
