OD - Season 23

Napster

No ⭐
First game in Level III, and it's against the other side who got promoted, Stoneheads.

They are ranked 73 in England. And have 2 players on about 200,000 BTR

I have little if no chance.

:'(

Promotion push starts here. Lost toss and went PAN but expecting to win

Bang! The 225k BBTR batsman is gone for 1!

2.1 W Atherton to Dann
Don't know what he was thinking there - van Niekerk has a very good arm. Dann was well short of his ground and the third umpire wasn't even needed.

they're piling on the runs but I've got another wicket

End of Over 13: 78-2, runrate=6.00
Fisher 2-0-18-0
Fuller* 20 (31 balls)
Anthony 33 (26 balls)
Last Wicket: Honey c. Arrowsmith b. Atherton 22 (FOW: 28/2)

Another sold up team so another chance to let my trainees get some runs. Their trainees are no slouches so pretty pleased with this.

End of Over 23: 176-0, runrate=7.65
Awan 5-0-28-0
Alvardo* 78 (68 balls)
Gilligan 91 (71 balls)

Going along comfortably here - Adrian looking for OD ton #34

End of Over 29: 164-1, runrate=5.66
Salem 5-0-20-0
Adriaan* 76 (88 balls)
Healy 31 (38 balls)

My instruction to get a ton and then get yourself out was taken a little too literally by Gilligan!!

End of Over 31: 239-1, runrate=7.71
Awan 9-0-57-0
Alvardo* 115 (92 balls)
Marples 13 (17 balls)

Last Wicket: Gilligan Hit Wicket b. Fernandes 101 (FOW: 195/1)

Getting into their top order!

End of Over 31: 162-3, runrate=5.23
Ohalloran 6-1-22-0
Lescott* 16 (33 balls)
Fuller 67 (91 balls)
Last Wicket: Anthony st. Perry b. Fisher 46 (FOW: 99/3)

And Adriaan gets his ton - OD average of 86 - doesn't quite match it in FC though a - lowly 50 average

39.2 3 Aldridge to Adriaan
A delicate dab to third man brings Adriaan three runs. It was sweetly timed, so perhaps I should call it a 'sherbert dab'.
And that's a century for Adriaan! Well played indeed Sir!

ah well. our batsmen aren't that much cop so I don't expect this to be a win

End of Over 40: 203-3, runrate=5.08
Fisher 10-0-50-1
Fuller* 87 (115 balls)
Lescott 35 (63 balls)
Last Wicket: Anthony st. Perry b. Fisher 46 (FOW: 99/3)

Bugger

End of Over 7: 23-3, runrate=3.29, reqrunrate=5.58 (262-3)
Lawrence 4-0-9-1
Mcandrew* 1 (4 balls)
Arrowsmith 8 (18 balls)
Last Wicket: Allan c. Dann b. Cooper 0 (FOW: 21/3)

And Adriaan gets his ton - OD average of 86 - doesn't quite match it in FC though a - lowly 50 average
Pretty standard, less wickets seem to fall in OD. Or there's more chance of not outs anyway.

Pleasing day for me, 409-2 and my three batting trainees all hit tons. A shame that Alvardo fell just short of his 200. All out for 69 so a nice NRR boost to start the season.

The real work starts now, Los Galactico in SZFL, a by no means straightforward cup game, LG again in FC and then Akichita in OD. Both divisional favourites in a week could set my morale back a stretch.

End of Over 35: 171-3, runrate=4.89, reqrunrate=5.73 (256-5)
Hodgson 6-0-39-0
Oconnell* 75 (88 balls)
Swann 52 (66 balls)

could be a tight finish, 2 new signings doing the business at the moment!

End of Over 39: 192-3, runrate=4.92, reqrunrate=5.91 (256-5)
Hodgson 8-0-56-0
Swann* 65 (79 balls)
Oconnell 83 (99 balls)

I have a chance because his 2 best bowlers will have done their 10 overs after the next one, this would be a big win if I can pull it off!

Stoltz 8-0-40-0
Livermore* 25 (25 balls)
Oconnell 98 (114 balls)
Last Wicket: Swann c. Beckett b. Bangura 66 (FOW: 194/4)

And that's the end of the match. Deep Backward Square Leg won by 6 wickets.
Stir XI 256-5
Deep Backward Square Leg 257-4

Last ball victory!! :happy::happy:

Comfortable win for me. Comparitive match ratings across division suggests this is going to be a tough season. Still fancy myself for promotion though. Big game next week.

Nadouessioux Akíchita v ShrimperZone CC

After defeat in FC it could be the same in OD this week as we suffer the misfortune of playing the strongest teams in both leagues in the same week. However if we win we have a very good chance of making a run at promotion. Playing golf so will see what happens later......

First big test of the season promo push against last season's 2nd though I beat him last time up and I have strengthened while he hasn't. Expecting to win this on a GFI and best ever ratings. They're currently 24-1
