Peter Moores Appointed Lancashire Coach

I wish him luck, and suspect he may do well at Lancashire, but as far as his services to England cricket are concerned I see him as a McLaren figure who presided over us dropping our standards of test cricket drastically. Token wins over New Zealand and Windies at home, but home series defeats in both our last two summers major series was not good enough.

Lancashire is a bit of a poisoned challice as they chase the Champinship that has eluded them on an outright basis for over 70 years.

He achieved miracles at Sussex and along with Chris Adams guided them to Championhips for the first time in their history.

Lancs have lost elder statesmen such as Law & Cork and may well be better for that, but I also think they are a side in transition and he may need a year or two to get them on track.

What I hold against Moores, is his failure to move England on.

I could have lived with those defeats if we were progressing as a side and providing opportunities to up and coming players, like Bopara and Mahmood but instead we were losing with the likes of Sidebottom and Bell in the team.

It will be interesting to see how Mahmood fares under Moores, because as far as I'm concerned he's one of the few bowlers in England with the raw materials to be a game changer at test level. I hope Moores does a better job with him for Lancs than he did for England.
