For me, I have only truly gutted on 3 occasions when players have left.

Chris Powell was probably the worst - my favourite player of all time at the Hall (despite the nick name!!), and a true gent..... Having said that, at the same time, was genuinely chuffed he did so well.

Stanley - well, i think everyone was gutted when he left. It was always on the cards, but the most exciting player I have ever seen in a Southend shirt, and I doubt will ever be bettered.

Daryll - Not everyone will feel the same, but for a whole host of reasons, I am absolutely gutted we didn't give him the 2 year deal he wanted, and deserved. a FANTASTIC advert for the professional football player in how to respect and appreciate the people that make you - the fans. I dont think I have ever witnessed the kind of relationship he had with our fans with any other player, and on his day, the best kepper in this league by a country mile. Absolute top bloke - don't blame him for leaving when he wanted security, and I wish him all the best for the future at Palace.

Anton Ouwalakoski ( however you spell it) Best most gifted left footed mid fielder I've seen at the club in my 40 years of support. We got him from West Ham as he couldn't break into their first team because of Alan Devonshire, and ended up practically giving him away to Millwall managed then by George Graham. Richard Cadette. One of the best strikers I've seen at the club, probably only bettered by Billy Best.

Eastwood, Nicolau, Kightly, Gower, Goater (although he probably wouldnt of been up to scratch in the CCC) Hammell was a bummer for me as well! and Flahavan was a shock too :( Not to picky really. Them leaving were however some what inevitable!

Duncan Jupp, Nicolau, and Kevin Maher would be the three I remember feeling gutted about. I fully expect Uncle Ron to get a statue of Jupp and his dodgy celebration at Cardiff sorted for FFarm to ease the pain though

Leo Roget- one of the few positive things about the team during his time at the club, brought him up ourselves... and whatever problem he had with his attitude off the pitch, it was a bonus on it.

I was gutted when Andy Edwards left to join the exodus to Birmingham in the 90s with Jonathan Hunt et all

Brett Angell, David Crown, Chris Powell, Ricky Otto, Collymore, Freddy, G-Man. left me pretty gutted.

For the names suggested, I would say:

Flahavan - A little bit but I had growing doubts for some time as to whether he was the best we could get.
Eastwood - It was a bit inevitable and we got good money for him so I wasn't overly gutted. I'm more gutted at how it's gone for him since leaving, Wales aside.
Jupp - Not really that good to be honest and his aging legs were always unlikely to last too much longer especially at the level we wanted.
Bentley - Wouldn't have been integral to the team but between effectively losing Guttridge and gettin McCormack, he would have filled the gap and saved a few set piece goals.
Collymore, Otto, Nelson, Angell - all a bit before my time really
Goater - no way he'd have lasted another season at L1 let alone Championship. Valuable help but his contribution lessened throughout the season
Nicolau - Umm
Constantine - no mention yet? I was a bit disapoointed at the circumstances
Dudfield - Was a bit sad to see him go because of the contribution he made to keeping us up.

The ones I really feel quite gutted about have been:
Maher - sentimental really as his influence was waning but I still felt he could do a job. Think he left because of his standing not just his ability
Gower - Behind Eastwood, our most important player of the last 5 years. Fans are supposed to be appeased by end product but most of the West stand seemed to think he was lazy. Looking forward to a new left winger to take the crap.
Cort - He was so good for us that season before he left that I seriously worried about how we would cope after he had gone. The only player seriously capable of playing a higher level in the dark Martin/Newman/ Webb II or III years.
Hooper - maybe?

I have only been dissapointed on a few occasions and deverstated once.

When Chrissy Powell left i was mortified. Rated Chrissy so highly but felt so proud of him when he ran out for England and it was great to see him at Tillys testimonial.

Ricky Otto. Ricky was so exciting to watch and had the ablility to score really world class goals. The goal away barnsley was one of my all time best.

Freddy. Top class striker and a total predator in and around the area. It was obvious than unless we stayed in the championship we would lose him. Still think we will see him back in a southend shirt though.

Bit contraversial but JCR. I really like that although then end product wasnt always there he would always be running always be an outlet and had loads of skills. Think if he can get the end product right then maybe the prem is not beyond him.

Eastwood - So many great memories, the debut, the wondergoals, the play-off final. I'm sure he will be back at some point.

Otto - as Tommy2holes has said.

Collymore - Amazing goals. I will never forget the interview he gave on ITV with Barry Fry when Forest were sniffing about. Bought a tear to me eye.

Stan The Man and Chrissie Powell going hurt back in the 90's.

I'm sad to see G Man, Flavs and King Kev all move on this summer, all three were pivitol in our recent seasons and will be missed.

Zoltan Liptac is going to be a big loss. Who's going to get our Cup Winning goals now?
