Hadn't seen this posted here yet, but this is supposed to have been confirmed by a member of Pompey's backroom staff.
When they signed Mike Williamson from Watford in the Summer, they rushed through the deal and didn't really check some of the clauses as they were thought to be pretty standard... Sell on clauses, Image rights and that kind of thing.
When they went to seal his transfer to Newcastle this week for £1m, it was only through sheer luck that somebody read through the finer print and instead of a definitive % of a sell-on, should Pompey sell Williamson they agreed to pay Watford £1.25m.
So, by selling him to Newcastle for £1m, they're actually losing out on £250k. And people on here think Ron Martin doesn't know what he's doing...
