We’ve finally recovered from the emotions of Tuesday night, and what a 24 hours it was.
In true Ron Martin fashion, unconcerned with the emotions of staff or fans, he allowed everyone in the club to go into Tuesday unsure if the game that evening would be our last.

Without the remotest public statement to reassure fans, it was a nerve racking day as rumours swirled, before finally, confirmation came of what we always believed was possible:

Martin was out, yes he has sold the club.

When fans stand up, owners tremble. It has always been our position that fans should own and control their clubs and property spivs have no place asset stripping the entities at the heart of our communities.

But you cannot carry out fundamental change, without a certain amount of madness.
Standing outside his house on early mornings and late nights, buying 700 tennis balls and throwing toy rats onto the pitch. Madness defined!

Everything that fans can imagine, they are capable of creating.

We had conviction in the belief that Roots Hall is our home and our club didn’t need to make the chairman millions in order to move to Fossetts Farm. Agreements and contracts can always be undone and redrawn, as was proven when confronted by fans on his lawn and he admitted he would be willing to separate the projects and sell Roots Hall.

We don’t yet know the structure of the deal, nor the intentions of the owners, which we are excited to learn of. The Shrimpers Trust have taken huge strides this year to listen, adapt and evolve, offering much support to the protests. We’ve always stated they are the legitimate vehicle for fan ownership and influence of our demands. They should now be enthused by the example of what we as fans can achieve, and should aim high in securing the best position for us and the club.

After all, as we’ve said before…. Our demands most moderate are, we only want our club.
