I'm trying to connect my PS3 to my TV with a HDMI cable but for some reason it doesn't like it. Occasionally when I turn it on it says it has detected a HDMI input but when I try to activate it the screen goes blank and doesn't reboot. Have also tried going into the A/V settings and changing it but again it goes blank and doesn't reboot, or occasionally it will set the visual settings to HD but will deactivate the sound.

I have the HDMI cable connected and the scart connected as well. Have tried removing the scart and just using the HDMI but then I have no picture at all.

Its not a major issue, as I can still use the PS3, but it would be nice if I could use it with HD seeing as I got Terminator Salvation and Transformers 2 on Blu-ray especially!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you got the scart cable plugged in?

When the screen goes blank, switch to the HDMI channel. It gives you 30 seconds to confirm the output method.

Cheers guys.

I've been pretty dense with this I think, have just checked my TV's functions and now know there is a HDMI channel I need to select, rather than being on the AV channel! Oops...

I have got the scart plugged in, but if I select the HDMI input on the telly am I right in thinking that I can unplug the scart?

Yup. You only ever need the HDMI cable plugged in if you're going to stream it in High Def.

Cant believe it, but I have another problem with my PS3. Now it has stopped connecting to the internet so wont sign into PSN or go on iplayer etc.

It worked fine immediately after I got it working using the HDMI, so I dont think its just playing up because Im now using it in HD, but the other day it installed a system update and since then its not connecting to my wireless broadband internet connection.

Anyone got any ideas?

(Have tried going into the Network Settings and re entering all the information for the network again but it wont connect, the error message its giving me is 8001000B)

Give the Playstation help service an email... Mines been working fine since the update.

Was going to mention you can get a HDMI issue if say you had it plugged in top a 1080p and switched it to a 1080i (you have to hold down the power button for 3 seconds and it defualt setting ;) )

The network connection sounds like wifi settings
