IMO, i would say NO.

The BPM, the song is to slow.

I would want an up tempo song that is lively and energetic, something that would get the blood pumping of both fans and players.

To me, that would send everyone asleep.

I remember the first time to Forest Green away and the players came out too a drearily slow Elvis song.
I made the joke wondering if the players would make the centre line before falling asleep.

I would prefer a good old CLASH song, something that would put a fire in your belly, and not a pillow.

Sunderland make a very slow song work.

But how do you make this “singable” on the terraces?

I just don’t see how it won’t sound like a car crash with a few blokes/kids singing it. Its not got that “anthem” flow or vibe to it.

How about country roads by John Denver.....

Essex roads, take me home
To the place where I belong
North Bank Roots Hall, Blue Voice singing
Take me home, Essex roads.

Thats start, anyone fancy another verse ?

What song did Oldham have at Wembley. The fans didn't sing much of it, just a couple of lines every now and again if I recall correctly.

I like changing the words in a song to make it more Southend related - but would that mean we'd need to get it rerecorded to play over the pa?

How we are not singing "Oh i do love to be beside the seaside" i have no idea?

We are the original penny arcade, kiss me quick hat, 99s with a cone, penny slots, sand and mud, fish and chip supper venue an hour from London football club, with the longest pier in the world. Nowhere in Britain does that better than Southend. A little bit TOWIE and a little bit Essex Boys.
I'm not so sure about a song coming out of Basilbum, thats a lot more depressing than Shrimpertown.

If we are 👀 ng at local bands and lyrics which can fit with subtle changes then depeche mode - ‘just can’t get enough’ fits , and we already sing it for certain players.
The only negative is it would not be unique to us

What, with the next lines 'I do love to be by the sea, with a bucket & spade & a fu..ing hand grenade, by the seaside, by the sea'

Following up with 'your going home in a Southend ambulance'

No, already been done!

Not feeling it,

We need something with better energy,

Oldhams song was pretty cringey a bit like our 'seasiders' but it worked well for them imo.

I would suggest a song competition from the people of southend, but these days it would just be all ai ****e.

i like the song A few thousand singing that loud would be really good
,sorry to say it but Alison Moyet song have never liked.

To the Sound of Biffy Clyro - Many of Horror
(When we collide)

We say, "I love you blues
You know we won’t lie
I trust you all the game
I don't know why
'Cause when my face is turned
The players shine
Our broken fairytale
So hard to hide
I still believe, It's you and me 'til the end of time
When we support we come together
If we don't we'll always be apart
I'll take a loss, I know you're worth it
When you score it hits me hard.

(Repeat)

When we support we come together
If we don't we'll always be apart
I'll take a loss , I know you're worth it’s pi
When you score it hits me hard.

Southend - clap
Southend - clap
Southend - clap

This is what happens when you lay on the sun lounger, listening to music and drinking a few Cruzcampo’s!

I’ve always like the blades greasy chip butty chant just before kickoff, whole crowd always joins in and gets a bit of atmosphere going. Something akin to that would be great.

Another verse? What have here is adapted chorus.

I don’t get this obsession with Moyet, she came to a few games 20 years ago but hasn’t been since much since. Did she get a ticket for Wembley?

Does the song need to be from someone associated with the club?

Regarding Wembley... she was on tour down under and performing in Melbourne on June 1st.
