Residents Only Parking Scheme in Westcliff

The Southend Borough Council are trying to bring in a Residents Only Parking Scheme between North Road to the East, West Road to the North, London Road to the South, and Hamlet Court Road to the West.

This is despite the fact only 35% of residents responded, which breaks their own threshold which is 40% as previously agreed by the Council's Traffic Regulations Working Party and the Cabinet Committee.

They say that over 70% of residents are supportive of the scheme, that is simply not true, actually only 22% of the total 933 properties/residents are supportive, but that does not fit the Council's agenda.

The Council's Traffic Regulations Working Party and the Cabinet Committee will be considering these proposals at their meeting at 6.00pm 1st November 2018 to be held in the Committee Room in the Civic Suite at the Civic Centre, but will only allow 1 person to speak and object for 3 minutes out of total for 933 properties/residents this scheme affects.

Cost to residents of a Residents Permit per property per year (to start with)

1st Car £15.00
2nd Car £25.00
3rd Car £50.00
4th Car £75.00
Carers £15.00 (each carer)
Visitors permit Max cost £5.00 per book (no idea what that means as they have not said how many permits are in each book), but each property is limited to 5 books per year.
Business £250.00 per permit

(Payment for a Residents Permit does not guarantee a parking space in your street or area)

That is democracy for you.
