Breaking News Ricky Duncan has left SUFC

Holly Crap.

Can it get any worse, interestingly no ringing praise or thank you from the club, just a small footnote on the bottom of the Academy Update.

"The Academy will be moving forward without Ricky Duncan who has left the Club."

So I will say it: Thank you Ricky for everything you have done for our Club and Academy, it is a real shame for the club, the players, the fans, and you it has ended as it has,

Hardly surprising given stans approach, and the dubious stories that do the rounds. Anton next i guess.

Are the bells tolling for the academy?

Holly crap, can it get any worse, yep unfortunately.
Many will instantly see it like that because he has been here for so many years. However, it seems the new faces (face) that have come in see his departure as a positive. It was wanted from the outset. People will just assume that he has left because of the embargo, not so. He isn't part of the collective vision.

The moment Ricky started getting involved with first team decisions, is the moment it was curtains for him.

Everyone has said that the whole club is rotten and needs refreshing. Let's not forget he has been here for that entire time. Sometimes things just need freshening up. People get a bit too involved and a bit too comfortable. Time for a change on all fronts.

We have some seen some great youngsters come through and I'm sure he'll get a decent job elsewhere. Have no fear, those youngsters will still come through. One man doesn't make an entire academy.

Good luck to him.

Has it been 3 months? That’s a common notice period.
Either way these things take time.

It will be interesting to see how many departures follow this - both in terms of coaches (several have already gone) and academy players.

That’s what I’m led to believe.

His “demotion” back to the academy was part of his notice period.

The quality of the academy was once high, but the rate of top players coming through began to drop. Ricky oversaw this decline.

This seemed to coincide with our best players getting sniped constantly by bigger clubs and our willingness to sell them for quick £££.

I really hope to see an ambitious Academy Manager come in with a new vision for bringing through local talent.

We might not be anything more than a gateway club, but let's make sure our best and brightest get into the 1st team like Dan Bentley, Jack Payne and Dru Yearwood did.

Indeed.

Was also told to WFH and stay away from Boots & Laces. He appeared at a handful of youth and first team games, but apart from that, he was well on his way out.

The short, snappy statement was for a reason. He's a wrong'un.
