The biggest task will be to ensure there is a Southend blueprint that is followed from the academy, through the 23s into the first team and the head of recruitment. We need to ensure that the mistakes of the past aren't repeated. The good news is that Ricky Duncan has shown he can deliver long term plans, which is an element that has been missing in the first team for too long.

exactly this, we need to build an identity and a culture of how we play. Not chopping and changing every 5 mins. Look at what Southampton did or what Ajax do or many other clubs through the Uk leagues or aboard. We play with an identity and with recruit younger who play the same way through youth and development teams and have ready made first time replacements when they move on.

oh definitely. Stan's tone and wording in that interview make it sound like Ron is not a character he wanted to do business with after all.......
