Post-Match Thread and Ratings Rochdale 3-4 Southend United

I've left it this long before commenting as I'm still trying to get my head around what we achieved on Thursday. I keep looking at the highlights and keep thinking, WOW, how did we come back from that. As soon as Dave slotted home that penalty, I thought we were dead and buried.
That must be the greatest game I've witnessed in all my years supporting this club. It certainly (for me) makes up for the last few years of pain we've gone through.

@Gt Yarmouth Shrimper

Very good!!!

That took me ages to workout. I even had to look up who scored the penalty and even then it didn't dawn on me straight away.

What a plonker!

That triggered some great memories…

Thanks for the kind words @SOUTHENDMAD1, at 1-3 we all thought we were toast, obviously nobody told the players. Football can be very cruel, and you could see that your players looked so deflated when we made it 3-3, that you just knew we would then get it over the line. Our No 22 is Keenan Appiah-Forson, who we got from the Spammers. He had to work twice as hard as the other players to cement his place in the team, probably down to his diminutive size. But now he's there it will take a lot to dislodge him. Truthfully, if he were taller he would be playing at a higher level for sure. Yeah, the Veggies, what is there to say, the horde will descend upon them next Wednesday, and then it will be in the lap of the Gods. Win or lose, it's been a hell of a season. Good luck for next season, and we may well meet again, who knows?
Sorry for the delay in replying mate been a bi busy, aww your more than welcome you deserved it , aww thanks i feel like he can play it a much higher level. As soon as you pulled one back i think the equaliser and the winner seemed inevitable , like you said deflated in extra time and tbh i thought we look shattered as well. I hope we dont meet next season as of the 3 clubs left i really dont want the other two to go up, cant stand either of them. Good luck !!

This will no doubt get lost in the excitement of today but flicking through the Rochdale programme before its carefully put away never to be seen again until my kids chuck them all out once die I noticed a small little section on page 29 which caught my eye

The 3 highest attendances in the National League this year where
9,677 - Southend Vs Weadlstone, 26/04/2025
9,614 - Southend Vs Braintree, 18/04/2025
8,668 - Southend Vs Solihull Moors, 12/04/2025

Another stat that caught my eye was our lowest league match attendance of 5,638 when compared to the other teams highest attendance was only bettered by

Oldham 8,611
York 7,918
Rochdale 5,880

Thats out lowest attendance vs everyone elses highest attendance.

Southend fans, take a much deserved bow :Worthy:
