I did the Royal Parks Half Marathon yesterday, my 30th in total, and first in a year. Straight in towards the top of my favourite races that, absolutely loved it.
Anyone else race this weekend?
After the Southend 10km last weekend, and Royal Parks yesterday, are there anymore localish races people can recommend or are signed up for? Really got the bug back for races now.

I ran 10km this week and last. Both were pretty OK, with the 2nd one 45 seconds faster than the first. Both were slow, but I don't care. I'm just happy to be back to my favourite distance.
Interestingly, from a cardio perspective I was fine on both runs (I've been going a lot of cardio sessions even if I haven't been running), I just started to slow from about 6/7 km. That can only really be because I don't have the miles in me at the moment.
My only issue is that my neice has kind of challenged me to run and half marathon with her. I'm hoping she'll forget!

Eldest did his first ever official race at the weekend. The 1 mile Remembrance Run over at Carver Barracks. Up to 24 junior parkruns now too.
He loved it, especially getting his own medal. He has all of mine from the races I’ve done with him in the buggy, but this is his first own medal.

Ran Billericay 10 k Sunday, first proper run 17 weeks after calf injury
Was slow but ran the whole thing and was pleased, though more shattered at the end then when I ran London marathon
Southwold 10 k in two weeks looking forward to this so much and then 19 k pudding race in Dartford beginning of December

Hill and last 200 yards got me to end
Can honestly say I had nothing in my body to give , said shoot me if do it again but said that past two years
65 soon so maybe last one 2026 lol

Normally I see on Strava/Instagram or whatever a load of people doing an event, and I feel like I’ve really missed out.
I’ve never ever felt that with Benfleet 15

Benfleet 15 done and dusted for another year, finished in 2hrs5mins, knocked a massive 13 minutes off my course PB!
Weather was perfect, and on the start line i see Darren Currie and his wife getting ready to run it, i was going to say to him the whole squad should have been made to run it as punishment for the 3-0 defeat on Saturday!

Well done on time, yes was perfect weather , just don’t think I’m up to it anymore, took everything out me, never felt that shattered after a marathon
.I was 15 mins off my PB but honestly could have been an hour was that gone on legs
Liked the collapsible cups for water great idea
