This is for all the keyboard businessmen out there .....

Considering the apparent complete mess the current owners have made, the scenario is .
Its 1997 you know of a football club in freefall after back to back relegations, The club has just about 4000 turning up to watch and season ticket sales of around the 800 mark.
Debts are 6M, the club is operating at a annual loss of 1.2M and the Assets have just been revalued from 6M to 8M in a last ditch throw of the dice to book a profit for the year and try and make it look like a viable investment.

Do you invest, What would your aims be and how do you go about it? (btw you are not Roman Abramovich)

Putting myself back to 97, sentiment was finally becoming optimistic, and real estate was the hot thing. I'd set up a new company, buy the ground at a cut price 4m(Roots Hall Limited) with a tenancy agreement without covenants.

I'd then call in the liquidators at new company, close the club, then operate a non-league club without the ridiculous Division 2 contracts that we were tied into then and no debt. Club would be asset rich, contracts offered on a non-league basis, and only a division lower -> relegation hence saving a huge amount of debt.

Hindsight is fantastic :)
