In a moment of madness I bought a ticket for tonight's players' awards do in the Shrimpers Club. I've not been to one since the Dick Bate season when I noticed Chris Ramsey drank rather alot, so what's it like,is anyone else going?

I know the big do is the ball on Saturday when the rich types on this board take their digital cameras and then post pictures of themselves with players on this site, but is this do tonight any good?

Can the palyers actually string two sentences together? Will they be offended if I ask them if there is a drinking culture in the club?

Advice please.

- a more subtle approach than "is there a drinking culture at the club" might be needed - perhaps !

OK, understood, so something along the lines of '' can I buy you a pint for every time we let in three goals at home?'' or ''would you like to come to the casino with me, the bar stays open late?''.

Just ask them if there is a good team spirit. They'll probably volunteer the fact that the lads go out drinking together as proof of it, if not, just steer them gently in that direction and ask them whether they socialise off the pitch and go out together.
