So whilst SUFC and Southend Council are negotiating over how much money the football club are going to give the council, Northampton Council are giving NTFC a £12m loan.

Perhaps NUFC are a better bet financially than our crippled club and the myriad crippled companies that support it. I don't know if this is the case, but I suspect they probably are... can't be much worse, can they?

They have a wealthy owners and had a wage bill of around £2.5m last season.

Would you lend Ron 12 million ?

Not even our hapless council are that stupid.

Our council won't back anything unless there is something in it for them..............

but won't there be jobs in the builds, then at the new sainsburys, new shops and then with what the old sainsbury site is to be used for?

Plus the town gets better facilities, new homes and a run down area on the main Vic Ave is improved.

Can there be other reasons for the council being so unenthusiastic?
if they are worried about loss of trade in the High Street they need to block broadband and web-shopping.:omg:

I dont know what Southend Council are like , i can only guess form your threads, it seems to me that Southend Council ,should stop for a breather and realise just how important the football club is to the town,to the people of the town and surrounding areas. If theres one business in the town of Southen you dont want to see go under its the Football club , other business can easily be replaced ,but you couldnt replace SUFC in the hearts of the people, another club might be formed to replace it ,but it would and could never be SUFC.time to wake up Southend Councillors !!!

In what way are they not being enthusiastic ?

All the necessary permissions appear to have been granted.

It is hardly their fault that the beneficiaries of these permissions (well one of them, anyway) have not had the wherewithal to turn proposals into reality.

What do you want them to do ?

(For the avoidence of doubt, I think our council are nigh on useless but I'm not sure you can fault them on this issue; I'm sure we all know where the blame lies.)
