A mate of mine is a popular radio presenter in Malta and we often have some footy banter involving lower league English games - Southend in particular. Anything to raise awareness.

He's opened his latest blog with a friendly dig at me and my beloved club.

The link is https://planetoz.wordpress.com/2017/08/11/its-back/ and it would be awful if the comments section would end up being 'trolled' by angry Shrimpers. In a tongue in cheek manner.

I already called him an elitist t*#ser on the FB link.

My comment is awaiting moderation. Don't hold your breath!

It read; Tut, tut. How on earth does anyone refer to Southend United as lower league sh*t? Our club only dwells in the lower levels to bring them class and culture. The difference between a Southend cross and a Maltese cross? We have Cox on the end of ours and you have coc*ks delivering yours.

Excellent, chaps. The author of the blog messaged me saying "I wonder how this happened" and has found it all rather good fun.

Both of our comments have been published now. He did admit that he was having a dig at overseas shrimper as he's a mate. Ignoring that he needs to understand that you swipe one shrimper, you stripe us all. My comment was:

I’m just impressed that you have heard of Southend United and real fans football in the midst of all that Premier dross. No publicity is bad for Southend. Keep it up.
