Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Bromley

Seriously bad day at the office but also our recent league form is worrying. Tactics wrong, tempo wrong, attitude wrong. Where has the press gone which was working wonders not so long ago?

Final ball today has to be possibly the worst I've ever seen. Numerous times we got in good positions but always poor choices, hit too long or didn't beat the first man. The only decent ball Cardwell should of done better when he hit the bar.

Why is it every time we play awful and lose, it's because of late wages etc!! It only took 3 posts on the post match thread to mention this.

We were rubbish and deserved to lose. We didn't start playing until we conceded. IMO changes should have been made at half time, we were lucky to go in at 0-0!!

Because I refuse to believe that all the off field problems don’t unsettle the players. Not knowing if from month to month you’re going to be paid on time. Whether come the end of next month their even going to have a valid contract of employment. If such problems were happening at your place of work, are you continuing to perform to the best of your abilities?

It’s also no coincidence to me that the poor run of form coincided with the stories about embargo’s and late wages all surfacing again.

Feels like we were doing better without all these players who are now coming back?? Didn't make today but going to the away game, seems like trying to fit them all back in rather than just sticking to what was working, doesn't want to seem to drop Ralph and bridge was our best player when Ralph was out, now it seems as tho bridge is struggling, feels like we are miles away from the team at home to notts county, as a manager you need to make bold decisions and stick to what was working well

One of those days today but not helped by the following;

1: our keeper is shocking
2: we can't replace him due to our **** house chairman
3: our only real consistent danger man being played at right back.
4: yet another awful referee who played into their hands.

If Ron Martin was there today he should have been slaughtered to say the least but the fact he wasn't speaks volumes as to how he's been able to get away with his inhumane behaviour for so long. If I'd had seen him he would have been told in no uncertain terms he's not wanted anymore at our club.

We play awful and lose when Ralph starts. Check Soccerbase

with Ralph W2 D4 L4
without W7 D3 L3

Tuesday Husin takes a punt and gets lucky, today iirc not a single midfielder took a shot at goal, set pieces were awful from corners to free kicks.
Press was missing from half the team, overlaps non existent for 80 minutes.
Blondie made a few good saves BUT......and there seems always a but......... he does worry the heck out of me and the back line most likely. He didn't cost us.
Bridge is a very good left winger but not a WB on the left, and 100%not on the right.
the lack of urgency and desire was very odd to watch.
Hindsight and the changes made show the wrong set up and line up started, poor ref, horrid, niggly but smart opposition = bad day at The Hall.

The whole performance was just awful and the ref thought we all bought tickets to see him give foul after foul, absolutely no flow to the game! Murphy now needs a start to see what he can do! Cardwell should of scored his header! We desperately miss hyde! Where is he? Should be fit by now surely? Although blondy was poor he did make some good saves in the first half.

Maher got the tactics wrong today, Bridge shouldn't have started on the right and we had too many players who have recently come back from injuries starting.

Cardwell needs to play his way into form and Wreh needs a break along with some intensive coaching

As for the keeper, he's the only one of three that is fit, that's not a normal situation so we have to cut him a bit of slack, Lopata needs to learn to communicate with him rather than leaving things and expecting him to read his mind.

What a dissapointing afternoon and if any neutrals were there they must have been bored silly. The referee must have set a record for the number of times he had to blow his whistle. I feel a mistake was made in playing Jack Bridge on the right, he did not look at all comfortable there in the first half. Things improved when Powell came on, he at least gives defenders something to think about. I don't think any of our players were at their best today. We missed Scott-Morris and trying to accommodate Ralph in the team has not been a success. Good to see Murphy back in action though. Although Blondy made some decent saves his decision making doesn't always inspire confidence. Hopefully there is an improvement in the return fixture but it is hard to feel in an optimistic mood with the failings of the club owner responsible for the precarious position that the club finds itself in.

A truly god awful performance. It’s not coincidence that the poor run of form and results coincide with the stories of wages being paid late. We somehow still find ourselves in a playoff position but performances need to improve. We were so lacklustre today, I don’t think Bromley were anything special but we never laid a glove on them. This squad desperately needs reinforcements but as per usual the club, Kev and co are being hung out to dry by our sorry excuse of an owner. It’s going to be a long second half to the season if things on (and off, I know, don’t laugh) the pitch improve.

Enjoy the rest of your festive evening lads and lasses.
The curse of Boxing Day relatives befell us today so non attendance was the order of the day. I coughed up £9.45 for a pass but only managed the last 7/8 minutes so I don't really have a view on today's game. But........... I did attend the Cup game on Tuesday last week and the team were seriously up for it so I'm not sure today can be put down to late wages.

Shuffling the pack around to accommodate ralph was just wrong. Firstly we don't win many games with ralph playing.
Then we shift our best attacking player out of position to accommodate this serial loser.
Put demi in place of Gus and crack on.
Such a contrast from the team that stormed into the play off spots to what's been on show of late.
Is it the off field gloom?
Players simply underperforming?
That spark seems missing for sure.

A real boxing day treat!

11 guys in pink, demonstrating the perfect formation and bringing me pure joy!

Well .... that was the pigs in blankets I had, complimenting the Christmas dinner when I returned home, after watching 11 other different guys in pink putting on a shocker!

My last game before jetting off to Oz and what a disappointment in the freezing cold!

We took far too long to get going and it was only when we switched Bridge to the left and started looking for him that we became a threat.

Too many players of it yet again.

Blondy - made a couple of really good saves but is such a liability with his slow poor distribution, decision making and lack of communication. We HAVE to get out if this embargo!

Fonguck and Miley look leggy with no real backs ups. Again, this embargo is killing us and we need more depth in the centre with quality. Husin slightly better, but not by much.

Wreh - another Dennis (though a less fitter version) who will not move for his teammates.

On a positive note - thought Cardwell looked sharp. Chased players down, won headers when defending corners, a threat for us in the opposition box (if our crosses can actually be delivered to him), who was close to scoring hitting the cross bar.

Overall, not good enough today against yet another team in this league throwing themselves to the floor. We have to find a way against these teams.

Ref watch ..... I had high hopes after the write up but was left very disappointed. Absolutely s##t!!

You will still be able to watch the whole game if you want I think. All the previous games they have streamed are still available.

I've read the book (this thread), so I think I'll swerve watching the film! Thanks for the heads up though, worth knowing.

Have the players been paid this month because it certainly felt like old times under Ron when something just didn't seem right on the pitch.
