Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Solihull Moors

If he'd just come back from an Unai Emery tactical masterclass with a match plan from the teacher, and communicated it perfectly, this bunch of losers would not have been able to follow or implement it. What's more they probably wouldn't have tried.

The losers he signed you mean? The losers he can't improve despite being paid to train them full time?

Would suggest it has more to do with Ron than Kev.
I'd say the opposite. And that's where we are as a fan base currently - plenty of people would agree with you but an increasing number I sense would agree with me. It's a question of whether the balance tips.

As I've said on multiple occasions I don't see us getting promoted (or relegated) with Kev in charge because he doesn't go after 3 points enough - and this is a league where taking 3 points really matters. That's not going to change with him in charge - so next season will be an anti-climax too. We'll end up chasing a play off place, rather than chasing promotion.

That was as pathetic a first half as I can remember, but we responded very well at the start of the second, but Maher’s decisions from then on were honestly absurd. Taking off our only creative player in Leon, and then taking off our only player capable of scoring a goal in Gus.

I’m generally on the fence with Kev but he did himself absolutely no favours today.

I don’t agree with any of the “plays offs are over let’s give up” comments. We’ve got the best fans in the league. That’s give our best for them, and build for next season, our issues are extremely clear and they’re shocking, but let’s hope they’re sorted. This result stings but let’s hope the players learn from this and the managerial setup.

Hayes is showing why he’s not stayed at any club for long.

Bonne tries but he’s not a striker that’s ever going to score goals.

Hopper may as well not be on the pitch, past it and offers nothing.

Parillon is a talent but showed today that he’s not going to be a player that ever digs in, and needs to play as a number 10 with minimal running required.

Morton seems to have gone rapidly backwards in the past five games somehow. Looks a totally different player than the potential player of the season before that.

Bridge is way past it and should not be here next season, but as he lives down the road he will be.

Walker consistently shows that he’s only capable of doing what his surname suggests… Where’s the promise of the pacy striker I thought we’d signed?

Maher and co are showing that the players aren’t able to execute what they’re asking them to do, and that they are incapable of a plan B.

… so yeah, not may positives that I can see!

It wouldn’t matter on the slim chance that we did make the playoffs because we’d probably get to the final and get stuffed because this bunch of bottlejobs can’t hack it.

We’d just be making the numbers up in the playoffs if we are honest. I’m not that sad about it, I feel like most of the time when we have won it’s been because the opposition were dire or having an off day, I don’t believe we belong there. Losing Golding was always going to hurt us, and I think that put it to bed.

Havent seen the stats but felt like we dominated that game in a lot of ways but real lack of quality in the final ball has once again cost us.

Best period was at start of 2nd half where we had about 15 mins of pressure however the subs had a negative impact on the game and by the end Solihull were pretty comfortable..

Would need to see the goal again but looked like Hayes completely lost track of the ball.

On top of a goalscorer, another type of player we need is an Adam Barrett/Peter Clarke type centre half who wins more first balls in the air and can help with organising.

Good news is KM has a long contract so he gets another 3 cracks at it. I'm pleased for him.

So we lose a lot and play boring football. So what? Kev gets to carry on because he was captain once and he chose to come and work here.

He can make bad tactical decisions because he chose to work here at a tough time.

He can take off our best player, the one who always looked like making something happen, cause he scored against QPR 20 years ago.

I'd bring it up at the quality managers meeting the fan liaison board but they have had one meeting that wasn't minuted.

#anyonebutron
Don’t forget the abuse he shouts at the fans who dare to question him. Lovely fella though Maher isn’t he.

Utter garbage, that performance - and the players are at fault for me.

1) No reaction to last week's shambolic goal.
2) No urgency in their work
3) No communication on the pitch
4) Subs were subs because they were even more comatose than the lumps they replaced.

We need to bin off all the no hopers in the squad this Summer and go balls out to get our top targets - the Ollie Pearces of the World.

Sack off Hopper, Bonne, Walker, Waldron, Kendall, Husin, Bridge, Goodliffe and Hayes IMO.
All of this 100.

Hollywood Husin. Watch me launch a 50-yard pass to absolutely nobody. Again. And again. And again. Oh I’ll mix it up with a shot that’ll inevitably go wide. Quick, another 80-yard pass is on.
Don't forget the oooh I'm running forward, can't let that happen, so let me do a lovely drag back and then... Oh I've turned into three opponents and given the ball away.

A must win, in front of largest National League gate of the season, up against a team we always beat and who have nothing to play for, game........what could possibly go wrong????
Backed off their player for the goal.........got the impression Hayes feet were stuck to the ground. I should look at that again........but do I really want to? Could of gone on all night without scoring. The up side, I economise a trip back to England in June

Checking easyJet's cancellations policy for next week.

Edit: Just wow! I make a post about trying to avoid coming over next week and who likes the post? Only a 'mate' of some 35 years who I HAD hoped to see before the match.

@Jay_SUFC you can do one.

😉
