Which version? The one that got us a double promotion or the subsequent one?

I don’t for one minute think that Maher’s job is untouchable, but I do think that the clamour from some on here is premature. At almost every corner plans have had to be ripped up, Kensdale (right decision), Cardwell, too late for decent transfers are not excuses but they are facts. Add injuries into the mix as well. Is it just me that thinks there is something fundamentally wrong with the amount of injuries we seek to get over the past few seasons. I am convinced part of the reason for that is today’s football boots.

On the flip side of all that not one of the new signings has made a mark yet and that doesn’t reflect well. What we need is for Bridge to trip up in the penalty area and the ball to fly into the net off his arse. I’m convinced his current form is temporary.

I’m still relaxed. Distance doesn’t make my heart any weaker but it does mean I don’t have the direct and post match emotion after a loss.

Keep the faith. The good times are coming!
Trouble is im now 78 years old and i would like the good times to come when im still alive.

People dont really want tilly and brush back.

They just want enjoyable football, loads of goals, promotions, insane cup wins, sold out happy roots hall, ya know, happy times.
people want entertaining football win or lose football supposed to be entertaining ,look at Ange at Spurs there football is entertaining how i wish SUFCs football was as entertaining as theres , im sure crowds would be above 7000 every home match if it was and people would go home happy win or lose ( hopefully win off course ) they would say money well spent , but alas we will never get it under this management sorry to say .

The football is good, we're not exactly craning our necks waiting for the ball to drop out the sky. If anything, we overplay it far too often. There was a lovely move in front of the West stand, beautiful cut through and picked up in their box and slotted across goal, score that then we'd have been 1-1 and game on with the crowd right behind them no doubt. Instead we miss. I think it was Josh that couldnt get a firm strike from 4yds.
Rather tjan shots on the edge of the box we play it out wide and then it gets played back again, or Gus puts in another bad ball as he did on Sat.
I've seen some awful rubbish over the years, hoofball crap, cant say this is the case under Kev. Like Tilly's team, some great football played, but he had some decent strikers to turn and have a go.
We'll get there, lets not lose our heads and rubbish everything constantly. UTB

Brighton v Spurs yesterday was a perfect example of this, an open, entertaining game with excellent individual performances and complete lack of fear on the part of both teams. Ok, defensive errors on both sides but the crowd enjoyed it and it was such a refreshing change from the tippy tappy walking football that most PL teams seem to adopt.
The Blues in the sixties and seventies were always entertaining and worth watching whatever the result, with so many players who were worth the price of admission. So unlike the robotic, formulaic dross prevalent now. The likes of Best, McKinven, Gary Moore, Bill Garner etc etc just don't exist anymore and if they did they would probably be stifled and their individuality coached out of them.

I had a chat with a friend after the game about being entertained at RH. Personally I want Southend to win first and foremost. Being entertained is a bonus. Quite often the very fact we’ve won feels like you’ve been entertained.

Of course we’d like to be like Spurs, they’re the best in the business in the country if you want entertaining games. However look what happened to them yesterday. I’m sure their fans didn’t think “well that was entertaining”.

I know it's been mentioned on here before but there does seem to be a whiff of disunity among the players it feels. I have absolutely no inside knowledge, nor do I want to cremate someone's character, however it does seem to coincide with the arrival of a certain Bonne. I sincerely hope I am very wrong.

Unfortunately, I have to say, it was a derisory performance. No obvious plan when attacking, too many touches, too slow, not enough bite when challenging for the ball and the least amount of pace I think I have ever seen in a side.

Moncur is obviously a good player, but in our side he slows the play down even more.

The one move that stood out was when Ralph ran through the lines and had a ball played to him (I forget by who, Bridge maybe?) and he then got a ball in the box. It was the only pattern i recognised from last seasons side, who were a play off team.

Other than that, it was very depressing, I left 2 mins into 2nd half injury time, the first time I have ever left a game early :(

And i should say, I thought the atmosphere at the start of the game was top notch, really energetic and loud. Great reception for Ian Benjamin! Such a shame the players didn't respond to it. Again, something else they did last season but not this

Thought the players had a great start to the game - created couple of opportunities in the opening 5 to 10 mins before maidenhead scored

Really sitting in the west nearer the south stand and hardly heard anything. Great reception for Benji. But we're struggling to get the rest of the ground making a noise to encourage the players

You can't blame it all on Boone. We've only played well in 2 games this season out of 13 - what happened in the games before Boone arrived!!!

Was listening to bbc Essex after the game.
They were interviewing the Braintree manager about his win.

He said it has taken time for the win as they have been trying different playing formations through the games played.

And now, they have tried all different formations, they have now found a formation that works for this team.

F**k me, I nearly fell out the car door when I heard this.
To my mind, I would love Maher to try different playing formations to see what works for our team. See what works with our stickers.

Our strikers, may like direct attacking football, running at the goal and defenders.

The thing is that what works well against one team doesn’t necessarily work well against another.

And we do change formations. We’ve had at various times this season one, two and three up front. Which did you prefer?

Really?

Wind Taylor Crowther Ralph

GSM Husin/Morton Moncur Bridge

Walker Bonne/Pepple

I know it’s a long shot but to say we don’t have players to play 4-4-2 is ridiculous!

I’d like to add I’m not asking for 4-4-2, just think we need to try something.
**** me. That midfield would be absolutely slaughtered.

It also coincides with the loss of Cardwell and Kensdale and could be argued results going down the ****ter before they all started playing like they have never met before. Not saying you are wrong but there are a lot of reasons for disunity and our results being ****.

Is there any chance of us getting more players in or are we just sticking with what we have? Bit concerning if we are
